I think the family kind of gets a bad image because of the issues that put Theo in jail, then later their image is affected by Stephen's behavior when he is staying in town and up to something.  While I think some people in town probably admired their spunk for lack of a better word I don'tthink they were generally well thought of.

How true and how sad!  what we don't realize is that we're more alike than different and that we all need each other for support and love.  Just like the two families, we are dependent on each other and need that in order to survive!
