I had planned to wait for the paperback for the third one. And it is hard to wait.
I did watch the movie. It is free on Netflix streaming. I plan to watch it again now that I have read the first 2 books. 2 days isn't much time. It takes time to read subtitles and I don't like to sit still that long. I think it was about two and a half hours long.

But I have to say they were excellent.
I have also seen the swedish movie about the first book and I loved it.
Iam taking a break before I start the third and last book.

Smurfyabs,
Elphame's Choice by P.C. Cast is a great book. I have read the entire series and I loved every minute of it. Have you read the novels that are before Elphame's Choice?

This is my first P.C Cast book. I have a few available to me from Overdrive, but I had a hard time figuring out where I needed to start. I'm not very far into it yet, I have a 6 month old daughter and I do most of my reading at bedtime. I don't get very far when I fall asleep five minutes in! I am enjoying it though and think it might be time to make some more reading time in my busy schedule.
There was a time that I would read a book in one sitting or in the course of a day. Now it takes me much longer. I don't know if any of you have felt this way, but I feel like I'm missing a really good friend when I'm not able to read much!

Luanne, I think the 3rd was the best. But what's really interesting is the mystery surrounding his death, his family squabbles and all the hoopla that it's all caused. I just heard this morning that he will be featured on CBS Sunday Morning this Sunday.

I have all of my copies too, and am looking forward to re-reading them. It brings back the great times in the discussion! The one that keeps coming back to me is "The House at Riverton" which was excellent. Kate Morton also wrote, "The Forgotten Garden," also excellent. I love following these authors and reading their new works!

I didn't like A Fortunate Age either, and a couple of others, not as much. But overall, I have enjoyed them, and enjoyed being a part, even if the book didn't thrill me. I keep them and will re-read them, at some point; even the ones I didn't care for.

I just finished Crescendo as well, and I loved it!!! I haven't read all of the First Look selections, but I have been involved with many of the discussions. I always enjoy them and am looking forward to this one. I read a wide variety of genres (YA and adult). Here's a few that I just finished.
Also, I have noticed that many of you are using the Nook. So far, I have not had any desire to purchase one. I can't imagine not holding that physical book in my hand and turning the pages. How do you like the Nook and did you like it right away or did it take some time to get used to it?

The Nook is wonderful. I've had it for a little over a month now. I sometimes forget that it's not a book. What I like best is the feel of it in my hand. I do prefer it with a case. I like that it's not bulky and heavy. Often I find my hand cramping when I try to read in bed with a real book and that's no longer an issue for me. I love that when I'm traveling, I can take several books with me without having to carry extra luggage.
The big draw for me, is being able to put books on it from my local library for free. I rarely reread a book, though I'm constantly getting new ones. There's a huge book fair here twice a year that I buy books from very cheaply. I rarely spend more than .50 and I bring home 20 or more. Space is an issue for me!!! My husband also reads a lot and we never had room for all of our books. I often box up the ones I don't see myself rereading or loaning to someone and then I donate them.
I liked it right away. I'll still go to the book fair this month and still read some of the actually books I own...but I can see this being my primary way of reading now.

I love my Nook, but still love holding a physical book as well. Here are some of the advantages Mike and I see with our Nook.
1. Small package storing lots of books!
2. Lots of free or inexpensive selections, even some that are out of print.
3. Reading in the wind without pages flopping around!
4. Sharing books with others who are far away.
5. Interesting updates at B&N stores.
6. Fits into my purse.
and on it goes ![]()

I'm a bit behind on my updating but I wanted to invite everyone over to Literature by Women - this month we're discussing Virginia Woolf's Orlando and then November we'll read Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson.
(our reading schedule through February is here if anyone is interested
)
I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

The first novel in the series is called DIvine by Mistake, then Divine by Choice, Divine by Blood, Elphame's Choice, and last but not least Brighid's Quest, The series is amazing especially if your into myths, fantasy, or supernatural genres. Enjoy your book. Oh and I know how it feels to not get enough time to read as much as you usually did. I have a 2 year old daughter and she is a handful. The only time I get to read is at night and during her naptime.
