Over the years, I've subscribed to almost every garden-related magazine out there. It's a lot less expensive than purchasing individual copies, and it's fun to have them delivered to your door. Is there someone on your shopping list who is hard to buy for? If they enjoy gardening, consider a gift subscription.
These are some of my favorites:
Horticulture - One Year Subscription
Subtitled "The Art and Science of Smart Gardening," this magazine is aimed at the serious gardener, but has plenty for the novice, too. True to its name, Horticulture is one of the most respected magazines for garden-lovers who want in-depth information on plants.
Fine Gardening - One Year Subscription
Another magazine for the garden connoisseur, Fine Gardening is filled with plant information and tips from experts and home gardeners alike. Lots of articles you'll want to save - I ended up getting binders for all my favorites.
Garden Gate - One Year Subscription
Garden Gate magazine is packed with practical information uninterrupted by advertising. You can view a sample issue as a pdf file here.
Organic Gardening - Two Years Subscription
This magazine is a must have for anyone interested in keeping their garden organic. If you like this magazine, you may also like Mother Earth News.
Garden Design - One Year Subscription
For the sophisticated gardener, Garden Design is famous for its lush photography. Its features cover the latest information on trends in products, plants and landscape design.
Herb Quarterly - One Year Subscription
There are lots of good magazines about herbs, but I've always liked The Herb Quarterly for its mix of recipes, plant information and herb lore. The Herb Companion is also recommended.
GreenPrints, subtitled "The Weeder's Digest", is a must for any garden lover. The book pictured above is a compilation of some favorites from the magazine. Similar to Readers Digest in form, each issue is an anthology of garden-related stories, some hilarious, others heart-warming. Read sample stories here.

We I do save some. But I'm pretty good about at least every 4 months going though and filling the recycling bin with ones I'm done with.

I still have some bins in my garage with old favorites I can't bring myself to get rid of. I'm not quite a hoarder, but I have definite pack-rat leanings!
