Although the "journal" indicated that Paul and Lucy reconnected after getting separated, with Paul covered in blood, we know that wasn't the case. After learning that Lucy unknowingly helped Steubens, I tried to recreate what must actually have happened in the woods. If Paul did not know that Lucy had found Margot's body and gotten Margot's blood on her, it must mean that after getting separated, both he and Lucy did not reconnect that night. Lucy ran to Ira and Paul went back to his cabin? That seems odd -- wouldn't Paul have been worried about Lucy and gone looking for her to make sure she was okay? Maybe I've missed something -- would love to get insights from others.
Also, at the end, when Paul says "Ira saw you covered in blood and thought....."
Thought what? That Lucy herself was a killer? That she was an accomplice?
Help -- I'm confused and this is keeping me up at night. In any event -- really loved this book and highly recommend it. Thanks.
