NEW!! Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer

Found this today.  Pretty much the same as what is on the HBP dvd, but has a couple of new scenes and more Ollivander.

Re: NEW!! Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer

What I don't understand in the trailor is the quick close-up picture just before Harry asks about the Deathly Hallows.  At first glance, I thought it was Fudge, but he's not in this movie, so my next guess was that it was Slughorn.  The two actors who play those roles look quite alike when you just look at their eyes.    It certainly isn't a close-up of Ollivander, who is talking.  Why are we seeing Slughorn's eyes?  It doesn't make much sense to me.

Well, I actually thought it may be Scrimgeour, because we did not see him in HBP.  If the close -up scene and the next scene where they are taking photos of the man are the same person, It could be Scrimgeour.  I guess I kind of see it being Fudge, because in the movies, I don't remember anyone mentioning him being replaced.  Another thought:  maybe Grindelwald, after he's defeated by Dumbledore.  He's a big part of the books.

Re: NEW!! Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer

Okay, I have a snow day here so I have too much time on my hands. That said, I am on the case and you can count on me.

I paused the trailer, which no longer works from the above link but I found it on youtube. I found that the close up on the eyes shows blue eyes. Snape has brown eyes so it can't be him. I did a google image search on Bill Nighy, who plays Scrimgeour, and bingo! he has blue eyes. The face could very well match up with his. I think he would be featured quite nicely in DH as he is too good an actor. Therefore, I think the eyes are his. Slughorn has blue eyes as well so I don't rule him out, but Nighy gets my vote.

However, the photo flash scene shows, from behind, a very thin man with shoulder-length messy hair. It looks like Sirius, but he isn't in DH according to IMDB. I still think it is Snape.

By the way, the actor who plays Gellert Grindelwald, Jamie Campbell Bower, is flargin' beautiful!

Re: NEW!! Deathly Hallows Teaser Trailer

Ummmmmm what color are Jamie Campbell Bower's eyes?  Could it be him?

I thought the part of Slughorn was very well played HBP.  I guess I was expecting to see a sort of "Luna Lovegood" professor, with larceny in his heart.

I hope they do as well interpreting Scrimjur -- He seemed just like the kind of person you need in bad times -- not just a nice guy but in control and getting things under control.  Harry didn't like him, but .........

You've never heard of flargin'? It's just a silly slang term to add emphasis to something. Perhaps it's a regional thing. I think it's one of those words that you make up because you can't use the bad word, like darn.

Ok cool.

We always thought one of those was regional slang, till the day we ran into a movie where a character used "Frac" too. BTW "Frac" means broken. Of course some of those don't go beyond your school buddys. Though if any of you guys hear someone say "Stop being so obtuse!" let me know.

[ Edited ]

Obtuse --- have heard it, well, not frequently, but several times/environments outside of Geometry class.

  Here's what Webster has to say about it...

Main Entry: ob·tuse
Pronunciation: \äb-ˈtüs, əb-, -ˈtyüs\
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): ob·tus·er; ob·tus·est
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin obtusus blunt, dull, from past participle of obtundere to beat against, blunt, from ob- against + tundere to beat — more at ob-, contusion
Date: 15th century

1 a : not pointed or acute : blunt b (1) of an angle : exceeding 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees (2) : having an obtuse angle <an obtuse triangle> — see triangle illustration c of a leaf : rounded at the free end
2 a : lacking sharpness or quickness of sensibility or intellect : insensitive, stupid b : difficult to comprehend : not clear or precise in thought or expression

synonyms see dull

ob·tuse·ly adverb

ob·tuse·ness noun

<script type="text/javascript">// if ( typeof(outputMyDictionaryLink) != "undefined" ) { var entry = document.getElementById("mwEntryData"); var hw = entry && entry.getAttribute("mwref:hw") ? entry.getAttribute("mwref:hw") : ""; var fl = entry && entry.getAttribute("mwref:fl") ? entry.getAttribute("mwref:fl") : ""; outputMyDictionaryLink(hw, fl); }; // if ( typeof(outputMyDictionaryLink) != "undefined" ) // </script>

<script type="text/javascript">// var healthlineSearchTerm = "obtuse"; healthlineSearchTerm = ( healthlineSearchTerm == ("!" + "#*#!") ) ? "" : healthlineSearchTerm; var healthlineHost = 'www.healthline.com'; // </script> <script src="http://www.healthline.com/js/partner/mw/link.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Know anyone who is "rounded at the free end"?:smileysurprised:

That's a pretty common expression here.  But in this context the word "obtuse" doesn't mean "stupid".   It's more like they are communicating in a bewildering manner, obfuscating the point.

Stupid no. Used to refer to someone causing mischief or discord with their behavior. Deliberately not fitting in, not as a statement or by being themselves,  but just to cause problems ( being at odd angles to everyone else).  And yes like someone breaking into a deep discussion on Kofka and starting to speak pig latin.

That was a classic comic line from the TV show "WKRP in Cincinatti".  One character had been called "obtuse" and when he looked it up in the dictionary it said "rounded at the free end" --

LOL! I so love to see the direction that threads travel. We're going to be yelled at soon, so someone figure out how to get obtuse, frac, rounded at the free end, flargin', etc. back to the DH trailer. :-)

Summary:

This flargin' confusing DH trailer contained images of Ollivander saying things that he didn't say in the books preceeded by an image of eyes that didn't belong to him but looked like Fudge who isn't going to be in the movie at all, making us wonder if the creator of the trailer was purposely being obtuse or were we, as viewers, being frackin' dense and / or rounded at the free end, or were we just all going round the twist about a trailer that was never meant to be understood in the first place!
