You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Another tiny question, I didn't get to do my usual silly Saturday questions-

Pius Thicknesse (I absolutely love that name) was Imperiused, wasn't he? Isn't that how the bad guys finally managed to take over the Ministry? But Pius died in the battle-just collateral damage? Can someone remind me who Imperiused Pius?

Was it Yaxley? The answer is in that first chapter...

Yes, it was Yaxley. I was trying to figure out when the Imperius curse might have been lifted-now I have to go and look up if Yaxley died in the battle. Curses.

Argh, for both Pius Thicknesse and Yaxley, the author uses the words floored and slammed...now I don't know if they died, or were just knocked out. Rats. I want definitive words.

I can just imagine the wizards having a hard time with their laundry. The rich peeps I mean… uhhh elf…
Yes mastah?
Yes.. uh… here..
Orb-like eyes filling up
m-m-master??
Im asking you to wash my clothes!

I bet a house elf like Dobby would take zat as a signal to get away

By the way I still dont get why kreacher had to die.
Come to think of it, how come HRO didn’t think of having the forces of Dobby and Kreacher combined during their camping adventures? I mean they can be friends now that Kreacher has taken Harry’s side. Plus a scene with two drunken elves would be hilarious.

We had a discussion about this way back... Dobby said that the Malfoys wouldn't even let him touch a sock, so that would rule out laundry duty in that home.

However, unless there is some other kind of helper at Hogwarts, I'm betting that the house elves do the laundry there. And Kreacher did the laundry when Harry et al were on good terms with him in DH.

So, maybe it depends on the family and the elf and the relationship between them.

In homes where there is a good relationship, and doing the family's laundry is considered by the elf to be an honor of service and trust, the elves would do the laundry.

But in homes like the Malfoys, where the relationship is awful, and the elf wants to escape and would or could use the laundry to say that the "family has given him clothes" as his justification for freedom, the family has to find other ways of getting their laundry done, like, "scourgify!" -ing the clothes themselves...

What do you think?

I didn’t get to read that discussion by the way.
I love this question because it leads to a lot of topics.

Kreacher serves Harry , the Blacks out of loyalty for everything a house elf “is about”, and loyalty to the kind masters he has.

Dobby doing errands out of fear and cruelty from the masters he has known—bound to serve them forever.

Unless I am mistaken, and if I am wrong about this, I swear I will never post anything ever again, but Kreacher did not die. Did you mean Dobby? It would destroy me.

Of course he didn't die! Remember at the end when Harry hoped that Kreacher would bring him up a nice sandwich? I wish Harry would have exchanged more than like 5 lined w/ Ginny. Sorry that was randomness.

Re: Tiny questions that don't matter but I'm asking anyway

About the laundry, I have often wondered about wizards doing the laundry. In DH Hermione said she was waiting for Harry and Ron's underpant to come out of the laundry, so who knows what that process would be for a family without house elves.

Re: Tiny questions that don't matter but I'm asking anyway

I think the laundry is done by mrs weasley herself, as you remember , she asked Harry to help pick out the matches for the socks that was just washed? Were they socks or underpants. But yes, it I mrs weasley who does the laundry.

If they can just train and domesticate the gnomes they’ll be so lucky to have all of them helping out with the chores.
Does gnomes have special powers? We never knew right?

He was like Scrimgeour, not evil, just a loyal Ministry employee. So he ran into problems with Dumbledore when he was assigned to track him, and ran into problems again when he tried to arrest Dumbledore. Then, in DH, someone put a Confundus charm on him, apparently preventing him from figuring out that the Ministry had turned evil; in any case, it worked like an imperio charm.

So, poor Dawlish, who had earned twelve NEWTS, and was a heavyweight auror at the time of his peak, then suffered a couple of real embarassments... Ted Tonks overcame him when he was trying to escort Ted into Azkaban, and then, wonderful Grandma Longbottom defeated him when he tried to take her, too. Go, Grandma!!

In my mind, he's comic relief...

Re: Tiny questions that don't matter but I'm asking anyway

OK I was reread DH yesterday or should I say part of it and I realized that Ron says Voldemort's name. When did he start saying his name and also why is it that the death eater don't find them if they said his name(I am talking about when they are hiding at Grimmauls Place)and they did find them when they were in the forest?
