I think she should write a book about the adults as kids
While the totally fannish fan in me would love to see some of the backstory of my favorites, especially those that didn't survive to the end of the series, I can understand if she doesn't.
My more moderate writer side would like to see what she does with entirely new characters in an entirely different setting. Preferably something written specifically for adults this time. (Let's face it, most of the 1st gen HP fans are now in their mid-20s or older.)
I thought I had heard JKR mention a mystery story at one time. If someone hadn't already successfully run with the idea, I'd say a series featuring the Sherlock Holmes character Irene Adler. Maybe along those lines: a strong female protagonist in a Victorian-Edwardian setting. Or maybe during WWII?
