What do you think of the last book?

Hi there!

I just joined so I thought I would post something...

So... Did anybody get frustrated when you read the last chapter of the 7th book?

I mean there is so much that I wished she included in the story.. For example who got to be the Head Master? What happened to everybody else? She doesn't give details about that... I mean it is a great book and I liked it, not as much as the 6th one though, I think that she could have written a little more for the last chapter...

But hey, tell me what you think? Is it good, bad? Why?

Re: What do you think of the last book?

Charmed13, JKR revealed a lot of the details in her web chat right after the book was published...  the transcript can be found here:

http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/7/30/j-k-rowling-web-chat-transcript

Personally, I think the ending she chose was good in a poetic sense -- but the deeper one got into the story the more details one wanted to know.  Perhaps, when she releases her 10th Anniversary Edition of the book, she will include the answers to the 10,000 questions that readers asked!

Re: What do you think of the last book?

Personally, I loved the last book just like I had done with the other six...to tell you the truth I really missed lessons at Hogwarts...and their daily life there...I love Hogwarts but it was nice learning things about the past and details for the life of Albus!!! also, there were many deaths..but how else could it happen? it was a battle between good and evil.the end was good.we learnt about the main characters but not for everyone but "the scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.....". now that I am thinking about it...I've missed them all!!!I want to read Tales of the Beedle the Bard!!!!!

Re: What do you think of the last book?

I was unsatisfied with the lack of details in the end . . . I really wanted to know what happened to everyone. JKR is writing an encyclopedia though, so I'm happy with that. I thought it ended well. It was such as amazing book. Even if I thought the ending was horrible (which I don't) Deathly Hallows would still be my favourite book in the series. I'm not sure if I wish that she had written more in the last chapter . . . I've never really thought about it. I suppose she couldv'e, I guess. I'm perfectly happy with the ending though, I thought it was a great finish to the Harry Potter series. :smileyhappy:

Re: What do you think of the last book?

I loved the book, but I'm kind of curious as to the details in the gap between the end of the battle and when they were all grown up with kidsI know she's not going to do it, but I'd love it if JKR would write another series about these characters, maybe from other perspectivesI'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time letting go of Harry and the crew from Hogwarts...I never have been very good at saying goodbye! :smileysad:

Re: What do you think of the last book?

I loved the 7th book. i would have liked to have more detail at the ending but thats what imagination is for. i loved the epilogue at the end. i cried at the end of the book cause the series was over. the last few lines of the book really touched me. "The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well"

The 7th book was my favorite by far.:smileyhappy:

Re: What do you think of the last book?

I LIKED the last book, and it was a relief, because she broke my heart when she killed Dumbledore, he was my favorite character after Harry Potter.   I am exactly like Hermoine, so she is my least favorite character of course!  I just think that in Book seven. Ms. Rowling was a bit bloodthirsty, and it was like she was being paid to kill off people, I mean really...splitting up the twins....killing both Tonks and Lupin and leaving Teddy an orphan was a bit much, but what got me was Dobby's death.   I had to put the book down for a while, didn't see that coming.

Re: What do you think of the last book?

Thanks for the welcome, Connie K.  I really needed some Harry Potter trivia! Helps me relax!

What part of Aunt Marge's apparel/outfit came off and knocked Dudley down in Book 3?

Re: What do you think of the last book?

i didnt like how so many people were killed but i saw it coming. i think she killed lupin and tonks to relate harry and ted. ted will grow up w/out parents like harry and harry's godfather sort of look care of him and in the epilogue it says ted basiclly lives with the potter's. idk, just an idea

Re: What do you think of the last book?

I thought it was fine. I loved having quidditch and the classes and then there were none in the last book it made me sad. J.K needed to have the last chapter be like 6 not 1 so she could explain it out.I have to say it was my least favorite but not as bad as beadle but im only on page 43. I am so sorry if i am being really mean but i just want ot say my opinion.

I thought it was great. Yes, it would have been nice to have some of the finer details in the last chapter such as who succeeded Dumbledore as headmaster (I can definitely picture a Headmaster McGonagall!), etc, but too many details would have made it tedious. She wrote what was necessary and I thought it was just fine. :smileyhappy:
