I love discovering new-to-me authors and this past week I discovered a plethora of authors I hadn’t yet read.
If you’re looking for a new author, one of the best ways to find one is by reading an anthology—a book of novellas written by several different authors. It’s like being at an all-you-can-eat buffet with the ability to sample a bit of all the choice morsels. Last week I was able to sample twenty-seven different authors. Some authors, like Lori Foster and Allyson James I was already quite familiar with, and in fact they're two authors that are auto-buys for me. It was great to read their novellas while I wait for their next full-length novels to hit the bookstores. Other authors were completely new to me and gave me a look into their writing styles, and I’ll tell you, I’ll definitely be reading some of their books in the future.
This spring is the perfect time to pick up these three new contemporary anthologies and discover some new-to-you authors. With a combination of 27 different authors and novellas you’re bound to find a new-to-you author as well as hours of reading pleasure. There’s a bit of something for everyone—like an assorted box of chocolates there will be lots of varied choices from the sweet to the erotic—oops, I mean exotic.
In The Gift of Love you’ll discover a series of heartwarming stories about love and family. These stories demonstrate how families come in all shapes and sizes and that a family is not always the one you’re born into but can also be one you choose. But no matter who is in your family it’s the love you have for one another that holds it together. With authors like Lori Foster, Jules Bennett, and Heidi Betts, to name a few, you’re sure to find a novella that will touch your heart. And in the spirit of love, all the authors are donating their proceeds form this book to the charitable organization, The Conductive Learning Center of Greater Cincinnati.
If you want a bit of heat with your romance, try the anthology Wedding Favors, authored by Nikita Black, Allyson James, and Sheri Whitefeather. Are you familiar with the saying, ‘always a bridesmaid, never a bride’? Well Wedding Favors offers three erotic novellas where the bride and groom take a back seat while the bridesmaids are front and center. In a hot and sultry New Orleans with a fountain that grants your wishes, it’s the bridesmaids that have a chance at romance while the bride and groom say their I dos.
The In Bed With Anthology is written by 16 different authors who reside on the other side of the pond. This is a collection of short stories written by English authors using pseudonyms because frankly these stories are for adults only. They are all unique, some are clever, and a few are funny—but they are all sizzling with a high heat factor. I’m not sure who the authors really are but according to the back cover copy, these authors are some of our favorites as we’ve never read them before.
So, dear reader, if you’re looking for a new-to-you author, or you need a quick fix from one of your favorite authors, try one of these three anthologies for a taste that will satisfy.
Until next Monday, remember, there’s a book waiting to be read.
I’m curious, do you read anthologies? Or do you prefer single titles?
