Dear Reader,
In Eternal Hunger, Laura Wright has brought us a new paranormal series with a mythology that is rich, varied, and different; where fantasy, romance and imagination blend together to create an urban and contemporary paranormal romance; and where sometimes, being the hero is not always a choice but rather an unwelcome duty thrust upon you by powers greater than yourself.
On hidden side streets, behind gates that no human can see, are many communities of Pureblood vampires living quiet, almost spiritual existences beyond the reach of everyday life. A fascinating and intriguing secret world where every action is controlled, where the strong strictures and moral codes are never to be questioned or tested, and where different is not tolerated. In fact, different is shunned and discarded. And in this urban tale of three vampire brothers, Alexander, Nicholas, and Lucian Roman are different. They are sons of The Breeding Male.
Being an outcast in any society will change and shape how you live your life and determine the kind of person you’ll be. For the Roman brothers, their decision to leave the confines of the Pureblood vampires and the rule of The Order meant working, fighting, and living life on their own terms. When the highly organized life of the Purebloods is threatened by the Impure vampires who want to take over, it falls to the Roman brothers, and specifically Alexander, to save them. How ironic, the outcasts—the shunned—are now to be the saviors of a race that didn’t want them. It is the oldest brother Alexander who is tasked with saving the Pureblood vampires. However, it is Dr. Sara Donohue who will save Alexander.
Psychiatrist Sara Donohue’s sole purpose for living has been to help her emotionally crippled brother. He is what she lives and works for. Making him better is why she gets up every morning—saving Alexander’s life was not in the game plan. Becoming part of his life was definitely off the menu. Alexander had no intentions of ever returning to, or even seeing anyone from The Order or the Pureblood society again—but plans change. Together they find a way to help each other and in doing so, the course of their lives is changed forever.
Eternal Hunger has multiple layers. It combines grit and warmth, the urbane and the idyllic, romance and evil to tell the tale of three brothers who have moved past the hurt and abandonment of their families and communities to live by their own rules. With loyalty and love, they support each other and create what they never had—a family. The strong characterizations, the gritty feel of the underbelly of society, the sharp and biting attraction between Alexander and Sara, the powerful awe of The Order, and the compelling ritualized society of the Purebloods all come together in a vibrant story that touches your imagination as well as your heart.
Eternal Hunger is the first book in the Mark of the Vampire Series, and with it Ms. Wright brings us a cast of characters that are dynamic, vivid, and compelling—each with a backstory that creates even more texture to the overall mythology of this world. The world building is big, but the author never ‘downloads’ the information. Instead she makes you work for it. Each character and each scene pulls you in and reveals a bit more. And like a curtain slowly lifting, the world becomes clearer with each new discovery, creating an exciting, mysterious but cohesive, and tantalizing world.
I was so happy to discover a new paranormal romance series and I’m excited about introducing it to you. To that end I’ve invited the author, Laura Wright, to visit us this Wednesday, October 6th! She graciously answered a few of my questions, and she’s also giving away copies of Eternal Hunger to two random commenters! So, dear reader, come back on Wednesday and join us for an interview with Laura, and your chance to win a copy of her wonderful book.
Till then, remember there’s a book waiting to be read.
I’m curious: Are you a lover of paranormal romances with vampires? Or are there other "creatures" that float your boat? Shape shifters, anyone?

This series sounds fascinating, Marisa! I have Eternal Hunger on my tbr. Now I just need to find time to read it! ;-)
I've developed quite a fondness for shifters. It started with Christina Dodd's Darkness Chosen series, then continued with Virginia Kantra's Children of the Sea and now I'm loving Juliana Stone's Jaguar Warriors.

Another book to add to my ever-growing TBR list! I've always loved vampires, but recently shape-shifters have been growing on me! As far as books goes, I think True Blood was the first that really introduced me to them.

Hi PJ, yes it's a really fascinating series with a mythology that has many surprises and twists!
I too have a fondness for shifters but have not yet read Julianana Stone's Jaguar Warriors - thanks for
the heads up; I'll have to check out that series.
Hey Chyeyenne_Cantina - count me in as a lover of Shadowhunters.
CodyCelest - I love me some Brothers - have you tried J.R. Ward's Fallen Angel series? It takes
place in Caldwell N.Y. but nary a vampire just lost of demons and fallen angels.
Lblaze - yes, I know, one more book for the TBR - mine is acutally housed in a second room. I've yet to read the Sookie Stachouse books, but again - they are on my TBR pile just waiting to be read.

I like vampires, werewolves and shape shifters in movies, but not books ~ don't know why. However, I really enjoyed Elisabeth Naughton's first two paranormal romance books in her Eternal Guardians series. The third book is due in February 2011. If you like Greek mythology, give it a try. Argonauts (especially Zander from ENTWINED) can float my boat anytime! :b
