Dear reader:

At the heart of Beth Kery’s latest romantic suspense are two self-sufficient people who are longing to belong.  Dr. Sophie Gable is a woman who instinctively needs to take care of anything or anyone who needs help. Thomas Nicasio is an ex-Navy explosives specialist who finds himself in the vulnerable position of needing help and not knowing why. Explosive is a dynamic, immediate and sensual read.

With the back drop of a peaceful and secluded lake side community, we find Sophie indulging in her hobby of painting landscapes during her summer vacation. When Thomas shows up unexpectedly the heat between them flares bright; that is until the next morning when Sophie finds that Thomas has left without a word.  Reeling from the death of his brother and nephew, and shocked by the accusation that his father heads up the largest organized crime syndicate in Chicago, Thomas is caught between passion and family. He has no idea why he feels compelled to be with Sophie; all he knows is that his need for her is great. Sophie has been aware of Thomas for a while but has kept her distance. She never suspected that a time would come when she would be an integral part in helping him discover what he is running from. And so begins an erotic and mysterious adventure between two people who are running towards each other knowing that at any moment something might take them by surprise.

Thomas and Sophie are seemingly successful and happy people; yet deep down they feel alone -- as if no one person belongs just to them. In finding each other they find the possibility of that one person who will be there loving them no matter what. This discovery brings a simmering heat that comes to a boil both sensually and emotionally. Through their intimate explorations they begin to cross boundaries that break open their inner fears and doubts.  However, with Thomas’ family under investigation and his role in their deaths and imminent indictments unclear, danger surrounds them bringing even more heat to the relationship.

Ms. Kery reveals the characters’ deep emotional needs through their intimate experiences. Questions long held at bay are asked and answered and both Thomas and Sophie must be honest with themselves and each other in order to find a path to the truth. Explosive has a high heat factor and Ms. Kery writes beautiful erotic scenes, but she also writes characters that are interesting and revelatory. So dear reader, if you’re looking for an erotic romantic suspense with a mystery that is artfully threaded through the romance,  an alluring hero trying to find his way, and a heroine that is at once strong and compassionate; might I suggest Explosive.

Until next Monday, remember there is a book waiting to be read.

I’m curious; do you like your romantic suspense with spice?

I'm a huge fan of Beth Kery's books - they are all great (and REALLY hot). My favorite is WICKED BURN, but I haven't had a chance to read EXPLOSIVE yet - maybe that will move to the top of my list!
