Dear Reader:

If you’re looking for a contemporary romance where there is heat as well as action to go along with your romance, might I suggest Kade:Armed and Dangerous  by Cheyenne McCray. This one’s a romantic suspense that is heavy on the ‘getting to know you’ phase of romance with fun characters and interesting reasons for the suspense. I must say, I was immediately intrigued and taken by the hero of this book -- he has many qualities that make him pretty much irresistible.  Kade Owen is an intelligence agent with the U.S. Border patrol and a single father who is devoted to his son. He is the kind of  alpha hero who is not only strong and confident but also charming and sensitive; a great combination of character traits.

Kade had no idea that meeting Kelsey Nichols, a journalist from San Francisco, would completely change his life. Kelsey, a  sharp intelligent woman who is very good at her job unfortunately has some serious baggage; including the tragic loss of her sister and mother and a bad divorce from a man I wouldn’t sit next to on a bus, let alone marry.  When Kelsey’s story about illegal aliens leads her to the doorstep of an investigation that Kade is working on, unexpected trouble begins.  With both of them hot on the trail of an explosive situation they need to watch their backs as they get more entangled in each other’s lives.

Kelsey soon discovers that the chasm  between “becoming entangled in someone’s life” and “becoming romantically involved” isn't that wide. Given the history with her ex-husband, acting on her feelings for Kade becomes difficult and confusing. Now wait before you groan because this is not one of those romances where the author keeps you hanging for pages and pages because the heroine can’t seem to let go of her fears;  that would really drive me up the wall. Instead Ms. McCray gives us Kade.  Kade’s ability to be both understanding and supportive allows Kelsey to trust her feelings and let Kade become part of her life.

This book was originally released in 2007 as an e-book entitled Wild Border and was Ms. McCray’s first romance.  Because I’ve read many of the author’s books, including the two other Armed and Dangerous books, Luke and Zack , which I thoroughly enjoyed; and her Lexi Steele Novels, The First Sin  and The Second Betrayal, which I loved; it was interesting for me as a reader to read Ms. McCray’s first foray into romance.

So dear reader, until next Monday, remember, there’s a book waiting to be read.

I’m curious; what are your favorite books where the hero is a combination of strong, sexy and somewhat severe, yet understanding, patient and loving?

Hey Deb - You should definitely check out the Lexi Steele series - The First Sin  and The Second Betrayal,

Deb, you are a woman after my own heart. The TroubleShooters series is one of my favorites and I'm really looking forward to Izzy's book - Breaking all the Rules - which is coming out in March!
