I'm as excited by the news as I am by who will be masterminding the adapation. Ron Moore, who reimagined Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.0 into post-apocolyptic study of religious conflict and the morality of survival.
But let's leave the heavy themes to the professionals and deal with the really important questions.
Who plays Claire. Who plays Jamie? (The question of who plays Colum MacKenzie is easily answered, and will require some scheduling negotiations with Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season and actor Peter Dinklage. We need Peter!)
I've always sort of pictured Claire as Kate Winslet, but the image I have of Jamie doesn't translate to any real person. First, he really needs to be Scottish - who wants to be distracted by a put-on accent? But isn't Ewan McGregor too old? Doesn't Jamie need to be slightly boyish, tall, and affectionate? Who is this man?
And what of Jack? If it were me, the same actor playing Jack would play Frank, but who could do an admirable job of keeping Jack's sadistic blackness from Claire's modern-day husband? This week at Romantic Reads, please help us sort this all out, as it is definitely our duty to cast this. Don't forget the little people, either: Who is Geilie? Kate Beckinsale maybe? No. Helena Bonham Carter. No. I've always thought of her as a little older, and a little fair...Gemma Jones but younger.
I plan on daydreaming about this until the announcement comes that Jamie Bamber and Katee Sackhoff have been cast. Who's with me?
WHO SHOULD PLAY JAMIE AND CLAIRE?
