I began fanning myself the moment Jamie Sinclair graced the pages; he’s a Highlander with a mission, and is determined to set right a wrong that’s plagued his clan for five centuries, a wrong perpetrated by the neighboring Hepburn Clan. His arch nemesis, the elderly earl and Laird of the rival clan is about to marry the much younger Miss Emmaline Marlowe. However, in a strikingly bold move, Jamie kidnaps the earl’s fiancée from the altar before an “I do” can be uttered. While Jamie believes he’s stolen a demur and fragile English Miss, he finds instead, he’s racing through the Scottish mountains with a fiery woman of beauty, strength, wit, character, and courage—it becomes clear that Miss Marlowe is no ordinary Sassenach. And so begins an exciting, romantic and surprising journey through the highlands, and we’re not even past chapter one. I told you: swoon worthy.

Having been promised to the earl to keep her father from going to debtor’s prison, Emmaline’s life was about to be over before it began. That is, until Jamie Sinclair literally swoops her off her feet and she finds herself caught between the devil she’s betrothed to and the devil that’s captured her heart. While Jamie is intent on keeping his distance from the woman he’s captured, not everything goes according to plan. Emmaline Marlowe has already been a pawn one too many times and is definitely not going into the Scottish night quietly.

But, with all good romances, it’s not just about the romance—well, not ALL about the romance.  Teresa Medeiros has created a well-crafted and engaging romance that captures your imagination through an exicting adventure and a fascinating mystery revealing new bits of information as you turn the pages. It made this reader want to know more about Jamie’s motives, Emma’s life, and the mystery surrounding the rivalry.

If you’re a Teresa Medeiros fan, you’ll gobble this one up. If she is a ‘new to you’ author, I say, “what are you waiting for?” The Devil Wears Plaid is an exciting historical, with a hero that will make your heart skip a beat, and a heroine who is as smart as she is beguiling.

Emma is being ‘forced’ to marry the Earl. Would you marry a man forty years older, with missing teeth, who is sagging in places you don’t want to know about if it would save your family from absolute disaster?

That is a tough question. For my parents, yes, I would. For my siblings? Not so much. I mean, I love my siblings and all, but they tend to make their own problems and I'm not inclined to bail them out when they could have done it themselves if they showed a little sense.

Teresa always provides an excellent way to spend the weekend. Much better than a pedicure...Great blog!

Teresa has written some of my all time favorite romances. I am reading THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID right now and I can honestly say that this one will also be added to that list.

I'll let you know what I think when I'm done but I can say right now that I am hoping there's a story out there for Ian!
