I wonder how many people have ever tried to cancel one of their electronic magazine subscriptions and encountered the same issue as me.
I subscribed to PC Magazine (electronic version - they don't even do a print version any more - that should have been my first clue that I would not like it - it's a pretty crappy magazine as far as computer magazines go and it's apparent why it's available in digital form only now.)
Anyway, I've been trying to cancel this magazine for MONTHS. I've performed the cancelation on the website repeatedly (it always says it will take effect in 30 minutes but never does!) and I removed my credit card number from the B&N Website.
I even received a response, finally, from B&N customer service on 4/13 that the eSubscription had been canceled from their end. Yet, today I receive yet another charge for the magazine.
I had been a loyal B&N customer for many years and had even recommended purchasing the NOOK to friends. However, this experience, while not that terribly costly as the magazine is only $1.99 a month, has been extremely frustrating and I have to say that I will no longer recommend the Nook to anybody. Not because the Nook isn't a great piece of hardware but that B&N customer service, in my experience, has not been very helpful at all.
I, for one, will no longer do business with B&N and will switch to the Kindle. I don't currently have a Kindle but I do have a lot of experience with Amazon and their customer service. Their customer service is EXTREMELY prompt (they respond within hours) and extremely accommodating. It will be sad to see the B&N brick and mortar stores go away but that is exactly what will happen. The writing is on the wall and B&N isn't helping itself by providing subpar customer service.

Interesting because I've subscribed to about 10 different magazines on my Nook and canceled all but one of them without any issues (I kept the one subscription). So it's not a universal problem.
