Titles on computer

I have a regular black & white Nook. I am running out of space, so I plugged my nook into my computer. I got a great tip to put the books I finished in a separate folder on my computer. So I opened the Nook folder on my computer, and went to "my BN downloads", where I  was going to drag the books I didn't want into a separate folder. Unfortunately, all of the books have names like 294000682.EPUB. They do not have titles, so I don't have a clue which book is which. Furthermore, I cannot open the books on my computer to see what they are. Any ideas to get the titles, or at least open them? Thanks in advance.

Re: Titles on computer

How many books do you have that you are running out of space?!?

I'd recommend Archiving vs. Deleting, both of which you can do at bn.com.  (If you delete them, they'll no longer be in your B&N account and you'd have to purchase - as in pay for - the books again.)

Those numbers are the ISBN-13s.  If you just delete files from your NOOK drive, they'll re-download every time you connect to 3G/Wifi because your NOOK will sync with bn.com.

If you want to keep a backup of all of your books, this seems to be the easiest way:

  • Download NOOK for PC and find and check the setting to auto-download all purchases.
  • Sync it with bn.com
  • Duplicate that folder somewhere else with a different name.
  • Once a week or so, drag the contents of the folder to that second folder.  Copy the books, ignoring the duplicates.

Re: Titles on computer

Ah, I see. Thank you very much. So when I archive books, they don't take up any space on my Nook? That is very handy. Also, my sister and I both have a nook on the same account. So when I archive a book, is it also archived on her Nook? And if so, and she has to take it out of the archive, will it come back to my Nook, also?

Yes, when books are archived, they are archived on all devices, and vice versa.  You could set up separate accounts and still share books, see this post about sharing eBooks without sharing accounts.
