Website wishlist issues

[ Edited ]

Anyone else having issues with adding ebooks to their wish lists? I have tried to add several books to my wish list but they are not showing up. I think that the problem is my wish lists say "ebook" and the list on the add to tab say "nook" wishlist. Am I doing something wrong?

Some people can't see the forest for the trees!

Re: Website wishlist issues

I don't think it's just you.

I've tried in 3 different browsers to add books to my various wish lists. Only my nook wishlist shows up in the drop down list. Any book that I add, regardless of type, shows up only in "My Wishlist", which doesn't even appear in the drop down.

I imagine the site will go down to fix this over the next couple of days, but since they still haven't managed to fix the rating system, I don't have high hopes of it actually getting fixed any time soon...

Re: Website wishlist issues

I spent 70 minutes on the phone last night trying to get the problem resolved and no luck.  I would have been better off spending time with my NST and reading than trying to explain to multiple people in tech service who couldn't at times remember what the problem was.  Total waste of time!!!  I finally told the tech service rep that I could add certain books that had a different drop down menu format when I clicked on add, but that went over his head.  I tried the same thing tonight and now can't even add that book, but guess what the format of the add menu changed on that one too.

I hope they figure it out soon.

Re: Website wishlist issues

Certainly wish the site would go down for repairs. I complained about this to customer service weeks ago and was given some crap about cookies in my computer. Funny I haven't had any sort of wishlist problem for years. From the comments on these boards, it appears B&N are completely unresponsive to ANY customer issues. HEre's my issue, a simple one as it doesn't involve synching to a nook or anything -

Haivng a problem simply adding books etc.,  to my original wish list (I don't want to manage several different lists, etc., so I always use the original one I set up and used successfully for years). THe drop down menu only includes "add to NEW wishlist, add to NOOK book wishlist, add to favorites..." BUT NO BUTTON THAT SAYS "ADD TO WISHLIST." Now what is the sense of that???

THe only way I can add things to my single wishlist is to go into my wishlist and click the "add more" button and use a tiny pop up search box that appears, use it to REFIND the book I had already found during browsing, then add it. IT'S STUPID.

I wrote b&n customer service and complained and got a silly answer about cookies on my computer, blah blah blah. The fact is that I've been shopping B&N.com for 15  years with no problems until this issue with the "Add to List" button and associated drop down box. "Add to wishlist" has been removed from the drop down list when clicking "add to list".

But sadly B&N is such a large organization, they either don't care about their customers any more OR whoever gets the "customer service letters" instead of passing on needed comments to appropriate departments, instead they try to just answer questions as stupidly as possible and consider the case closed and move on to the next customer. VERY VERY SAD. I'm hoping someone at B&N reads these over and can tell us what they plan to do about the multitude of wishlist problems I keep reading about here and elsewhere on the net.

at website - there are 2 wishlist, no idea why it sometimes put here, sometimes there ... and pretty much no idea how to get back to them... really frakked up...

anyway there's no sync between those wishlists, what is at least sad...  would bring you  more bought books if you guys at BN fix it

Re: Website wishlist issues

Just a quick update on the difficulties with my eBook wishlist.  So far the problem still exists and no one seems to give a !#&%@.  It seems that no one at B&N cares, so maybe I should simply start buying my books elsewhere or borrow from the library. I just finished the second book in a series and wanted to add number 3 to my wishlist and guess what.  This is so frustrating.

Re: Website wishlist issues

My add to Nook Wish List has also not been working for me for a couple of weeks now. I would use it to hold books I was interested in reading but was checking to see if they would come down in price and sometimes they became free. Also, to keep the next book in a series. I would use it often. So, this feature is greatly missed. But, I can add Nook Books to my regular Wish List, so now I need to go to two Wish List sites! Instead of just the Nook Book Wish List, but at least I can do that.   :smileyhappy:

Re: Website wishlist issues

After several back and forth emails with CS, here is the response I received today.  At least this time they acknowledge it was their problem, not mine.

We apologize that you are having problem adding books on the online Wish List.

We are aware of this problem and are working diligently to resolve it.

Please check back often as we hope to correct this situation shortly.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Re: Website wishlist issues

I see that many of these posts are from last year, but I am having trouble as of the past few weeks trying to put books on my Nook Wish list.   This is all of a sudden and it is very frustrating.  If this can not be fixed I will just delete my whole wish list and put it on Goodreads where I do not have as much trouble.  This is very annoying when I find books, and have to continously hit add to Nook wish list and get no response.  What is going on??

This has been going on a while, there's some problem with the website.  There's a note today from Alex in the Nook Simple Touch Ask the Community Manager forum, that basically says, they're aware of the issue and working to correct it.

Re: Website wishlist issues

Thank you so much for your answer.  I actually started wondering tonight if it was a browser issue.  I usually use Chrome Google, but tried tonight on Modzilla and had the same problem.

Re: Website wishlist issues

I spent over an hour online with CS a few weeks ago regarding this issue where she basically treated me like an idiot who didn't know how to use a computer at all. It didn't matter what I said to her or how many times I explained the issue to her, she just kept going in the same circles making me do the same thing over and over and seemed oblivious to the issues of the site. She went so far as to ask me if I was sure I was signed into my account even though she could see I was signed in as we were speaking!

I finally gave up, copied the conversation, pasted it to a word file for my records, and decided to chalk it up to stupidity on her part.

Re: Website wishlist issues

Its been doing that a while.  But as of today, I can't access My Nook wishlist at all. I wanted to put some things on it but I get "The creation has reached the limit." when I try.  The others work perfectly fine, and My Nook wishlist did as well over the weekend.  I need that. Helps me know what the current prices of the ebooks I want are, since the one via the Nook's shop can't be refreshed without searching for all the books all over again

I can get into my ebook/Nookbook wishlist on the website without any issues.  From the error message you are getting, I'd take a guess that there's a limit to the number of books you can add to the wishlist and you've reached it.  Just a thought.

Re: Website wishlist issues

I don't think too many items on the ewish list is the problem.  I've had more on the list in the past than now, and I just now got the same error message.  I think B&N has the problem.  Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Maybe, but like I said, I have no issue with getting to my wishlist, so it's not a univeral problem.

Re: Website wishlist issues

I just got the "The creation has reached the limit." error on the eBook wishlist. I really hope the wishlist isn't toast. And if it is a item limit, it is very small. I can't verify, but I don't think there's more than 20 or 30 books on my wishlist.

Re: Website wishlist issues

I have "The creation has reached the limit." problem as well, so it is clearly a B&N error. It happened to me right after I tried to add a book to the list from the book's page (which I keep trying hoping it will finally work again). I'm guessing it's a new issue happening to people trying to add books now regardless of the actuall number of items they have in their list. I didn't have even 10 items in my list when I added the book and have had much more than that before.

Re: Website wishlist issues

Haven't had the "creation limit" issue, but all of a sudden today the "View Your Other Wishlists" link/dropdown doesn't work.  Simply doesn't respond when clicked on.  I managed to get into my ebook wishlist by finding it in my browser history, but when I get into it, the functionality links inside it are unresponsive, too--can't remove a book, can't add a book, can't sort the list.

Contacted customer service, asked about that and the ongoing (since November) "add to wishlist" issue.  They didn't know anything about the latter, claimed that "routine server maintenance" could be responsible for the former, and told me to come back in an hour if it still wasn't working.  An hour later--you guessed it!--no change.  So I went back, and this time the rep knew about the ongoing issue but had no information to give me and was unable to help with the new issue.

My thought now is, there are a lot of competent web developers looking for jobs out there.  Time to clean house in B&N tech.

Re: Website wishlist issues

@bklvr896 - it might be triggered by trying to add to it. But if it was some kind of limit, it is bizarre that it prevents you from seeing it at all.

No word from the folks maning the twitter, but hopefully they've passed it on.
