Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Thank you

[ Edited ]
Hi,
I want to say thank you to those who contributed here for their input and to the lurkers for lurking (it would be better if you posted your thoughts, too, IMHO) and I hope that Moby-Dick stays alive for yet another century at least ;-).
Special thanks to Bob for setting this discussion up and for guiding us through so skilfully and elegantly.

To those who still read good luck and I wonder if ana_fylaxis gets over the hump this time :-)

I am reading a translation now but not systematically. However, at times that moves the focus a little.
Well, have a whaling fun shipmates and go to Mystic in the summer if you can.

Re: Thank you

And many many thanks to you too Ziki - your thoughts have been an inspiration, Chad's too. I cannot for the life of me think why only one star is showing against your entries because you are one of the most interesting contributors to these boards- you must have been a bad girl and posted some naughty words somewhere!:smileysurprised: It shows how ridiculous the rating scheme is though - I would give you six stars if I rated anyone, which I don't, on principle.:smileyhappy:

Re: Thank you

I didn't post in this book club at all -- came to it too late. But what a great discussion. I sincerely hope there are more like it!
