Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Bookclub format not working for this?

[ Edited ]
I am so disappointed that there has been almost NO discussion in here for days and days. Is the bookclub format not working for people in this type of book? I think it should work fine. I think the University style would have worked better, more interaction but still. I am glad I bought the book tho but after the last club and this one, I may have to look elsewhere for people to discuss books with. Doesnt anyone out there have anythng to say about the book? I know we havent had a lot of moderater interaction lately and not a lot of Author imput but hey before we didnt have the authors most times anyway. We did however have some good authorities on the subjects checking in and interacting a lot more. But hey. there is the rest of this week and then next week and the month is over. Doesnt anyone have some questions or points of interests about the book now? Or am I wasting my time in these bookclubs here? :smileysad:

Hi Vivico1------
The discussion responses seem to vary from book to book and through the different genre boards. Look at some of the other genres even if you haven't read the book there and see how the discussion looks. Check out The Double Bind board. I did that one too this month and it had quite a bit of discussion. Then try again with your genre of choice on the next book. I think the experiences are going to vary.

Re: Bookclub format not working for this?

Last month, I did a novel. I dont read many novels and MAN, it wasnt a discussion club, it was only a fan club! When I said, its an ok book, nothing special and talked about some of the techniques used in the writing style that just didnt seem to hit the mark, you would have thought "I" was an assassin lol! I got all kinds of flack for saying I didnt like it that much. The one before that was suppose to be an American Classic, about as close to the poetry and music and biography books of bnu as i could find, and it turned into a class of Americans and Bush vs the Socialist and just a full out debate on the war in Iraq instead of the book! I am really tiring of these fast. This was one i was really hoping for some good discussion, it was more like the class books of BNU but not enough help from an expert to keep it going i guess. I bought ONE more book for April, if that doesnt work out, I flat give up. I enjoyed every single one of the BNU classes I took and couldnt wait for the next. These books I can read alone if no one is going to discuss or if they are just fan clubs that you better know the author AND like them. I am glad you have been a constant in here tho, but I have found three other books that I bought somewhere else just to read on my own, if April doesnt work out.
