I hope this is where I can post for historical fiction. I am basically looking for suggestions for a good historical fiction book that takes place in the Middle Ages. A friend has recommended The Doomsday Book. What are your suggestions?
Thanks for your time!

Just a side note- I think I'm more interested in a more *realistic* viewpoint to the middle ages, as opposed to the oft told romanticized versions including the aristocracy and all the recent stories about true historical figures being fictionalized.
I would just love a good tale including the everyday realities of the peasant class- possibly a peasant class heroine. I'm not saying there can't be any romance, but I'm looking for a more realistic view of life in middle ages as told in a fictionalized setting.
Doomsday is on my list!

Thanks!

Hi Frenchygirl1----Go to Barnes&Noble.com and look up To Dance with Kings by Rosalind Laker and see if this is what you might be looking for. Try peasant life fiction or Middle Ages fiction in the search box. Also you might get more response by asking for suggestions either on the Community Room board or the Fiction--General Discussion Board.

"Doomsday" or "Domesday"? The Domesday book was basically a census (with a lot of other information) commissioned in 1086 by William the Conquerer. It's nonfiction (and quite dry).
