Enjoy that cake- and don't forget your milk. Can't eat cake without milk.

Happy Birthday Jim- another day older, eh? Beats the alternative, doesn't it?

My mother has said for all of my life, even at this age, when my birthday rolls around, she will call and say, well how does it feel to be a year older?? I am 50, this question got old at 20, the answer has never changed. I am not a year older. I did not fall asleep and wake up a year later. I am a DAY older! It feels like yesterday, but its today! lol

Here is an example of a type of circular thinking in about 10 seconds lol. I was watching a little tv today and saw them advertise the next Survivor, starting soon. They said they got permission to do it in China and mentioned the great wall. So, here was the 10 second thought:
Survivor reality show--->China-->Great Wall of China---> Marco Polo debate--->Judas Strain book--> book's author Jim--->traveler---->adventurer---> survival ideas---> Survivor reality show----> Jim should try out for Survivor!
lol Hey, I think it would be interesting to watch you on there Jim. I think with that creative mind you have and physically adventurous nature, you could win the game. And if not, well then again, with that creative mind, you could at least freak the heck out of all the other players where ever you are lol. Whatcha say??

You know SURVIVOR looks like fun. In fact, I considered it seriously enough to download one of their applications. But I never did follow thru. With writing and book tours, I don't have a break in my schedule long enough to accomodate what it would take to be on the show and all the ancillary promotions. Still, think it would be a blast!
Jim
I had wondered if you had every watched it or considered it. I think it would be a blast if you got to do it. Who knows, you might get some new ideas for books too from the experience or the locals. Yep, would be fun I think and I can see you doing it.

As to the b-day, it was quiet one. After a month on tour, it was celebration enough to kick back with the dogs. I had a few friends over for a b-day dinner (and cake). Otherwise, it was a relaxful, laid back day!

I'll have to see if I can find a link to the boat/plane. It was from an article in Popular Mechanics.

I have a Golden Retriever names Penny (cuz she's copper colored like a penny), and I have a dachshund names Paiwakit (who's named after....well it's an esoteric reference, let's see if you can guess)
Jim
great, and esoteric meaning to someone who is new to your books LOL. hmmm. Is it like a combination of names of some of your characters or book titles? Both are great dogs. I had a miniature dachshund once that I bought from a Chinese lady and he was sooo cute, I love hounds, those short legs and long ears lol. Anyway she said his name was CHUI. I thought, cool, an Asian named dachshund

These two elderly women were driving down the street and a guy jumped in the back seat on the passenger side and grabbed the woman in front around the head. He told the woman driving if they didnt give him their money and get out of the car, he would kill her friend. The old woman driving looked back over the seat at him and said "Get the hell out of this car! What the hell do you think you are doing?!" The would be carjacker started to pull back on the other woman's head and her wig came off in his hands LOL. He jumped out of the car and ran, with nothing. And the topper of the story....the elderly women had just been to the casinos and had 100s of dollars in their purses from their winnings LOLOL. Ya gotta love old women.

You gotta love such ladies! Maybe one of THEM could play Gray's mother in the movie!
Jim
How funny. When I was writing this to you, I thought of Gray's mother but I see her as a little more umm, how to say, refined? demure? QUIET? LOL than these two. I liked her coming out and just holding that gun up and shooting, and the way she talked lovingly to her husband, while you knew she was incredibly worried, she tried very much to not show this to the bad guys. I can't see her as this old lady that I watched telling her story, just saying GET THE HEll OUT OF THIS CAR! What the hell is wrong with you??!! LOLOL Though between that and the wig coming off, it worked for these old women, but I think that kind of response would have put a premature bullet right between the eyes of Gray's mother and we CAN"T have that!
