No offense was taken, I just wanted let you know why I posted it. I like Antonio for Nassar, he can play a bad guy pretty well from what I've seen. The Indian actors look good, but I'd prefer one of them as Devesh & one as Rakao (don't really care which one is which).
As far as Star Wars goes, I refused to see the newer ones because I didn't think they could touch the orginals. Then my 10 year old daughter watched one on TV with a friend & I came around. I now own all the movies on DVD, & have the original 3 on VHS (I know, I'm a freak!) I really love watching all 6 in a row (not in one day, there would be not time for anything else if you did that!), they really complete the story. Here I thought the movies were all about Luke, when they really were about Darth Vadar! What a surprise!

LOL, your not a freak, I bought one of the dvr's to make a copy of my VHS tapes that I could, just for me, not for sale and I was surprised how many i was able to tape to dvd, and was very glad too because some of them are movies you cant get anymore and some were starting to degrade. I still have about 20 VHS tapes that I kept because I cant get them on DVD and cant copy. At one time I had 500 movies, hey I have been stuck in a house for a couple of decades! lol so books, movies and the computer are great friends to me. I gave a lot of VHS movies to the local little library, then I found a shelter for the homeless that wanted a bunch and some of the DVDs I wanted to get rid of too, so gave two boxes full to them. My books, its harder for me to give up. I just keep building bookshelves on all the walls LOL. Now some books that I just didnt like, I give to the library. I try to take good care of my movies and my books. My music too. I love old torch songs from before I was born, blues, pop, classic about anything but rap and country, altho there are some individual country songs I like.
OH and on the Nassar thing, I am with you, lets say Nassar is Antonio then, I think thats three of us and see if anyone objects lol. The Indians on the ship, devesh and Surina and the one holding Gray's parents we will just force Jim to pick LOL

I thought of Sophie's Choice, too, when I was writing that scene! Yes, VERY powerful and sad movie.

For horror: Alien/Aliens
For scifi: Bladerunner (the Director's Cut)...and of course the original Star Wars trilogy, but that's more "space opera." Empire Strikes Back is still the best of the whole bunch.
For adventure: Raiders of the Lost Ark!! (close second: Jurassic Park)
For western: The Searchers
For drama: Schindler's List
For documentary: Sicko (okay, I just watched it...wow)
For comedy: Animal House
For animation: 101 Dalmatians (okay you might guess why)
...and even as I write these choices, I keep going NO WAIT, I like THIS one better for that genre, but I'll stick to my gut choices for now
Misc: all the Coen Brothers films, early Woody Allen, anything and everything by Spielberg.
And the list goes on an on.

I love it! Someone else who knows the movie! And that you thought of that too there, that is wild Jim. So you do know why that is one of my all time favorite movies too. That was a powerful scene in your book too, because I really was not sure what Devesh would do if she didnt chose. wow.

Schindler's List was such a powerful movie,I have a copy and watch it more than a lot of the ones I have. It made me cry so much at the end when he is crying about..just one more, i didnt do enough, i could have gotten more out...that really gets to me, the whole movie did. What an amazing man and movie. As for your western...The Searchers was a GREAT film, especially for its time. Kind of a different role for John Wayne too. I liked some of the spaghetti westerns too. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was good. You're right, the list goes on and on. One of the scariest movies to me without the chainsaws, not really into slasher films, was the original When a Stranger Calls with Carol Cane, because that first 15 minutes of it is so completely possible! Thay made a sequal a couple of decades later called When a Stranger CAlls Back and it had Carol Cane in it too and it was actually a really good one too. I think last year they did a remake of the original but I didnt go see it, I figured they would mess it up and I think someone said shes running around in the house with the guy a lot, well thats not the original movie at all. OH and I do love Pixar movies. I LOVED Toy Story. Finding Nemo was good, my favorite part of it is Dora. Ellen Degeneres did such a great job of the confused little fish looking for..Sancho, Bingo...Nemo lol. Yes, anything that says Spielberg on it, I will be headed to see. Favorite romantic movie: probably still The Way We Were. Favorite musical: either Fiddler on the Roof, or Showboat. Hey, now this sounds like the boys doing their "favorite day or thing" game on the boat in the movie The Way We Were lol. I do like the Zucker Brothers comedies, like Airplane or Hot Shots lol.

Good Heavens... There are too many to chose from.
Movies I watch frequently:
-Lord of the Rings, 2 Towers, Return of the King
-The Mummy and the Mummy 2 (Arnold Vosloo looks great!)
-Boondock Saints
-Elizabeth: I love this movie because I think it is the best depiction of Elizabeth, (as I imagine she may have been), that I have ever seen. Elizabeth I is one of my Heroes.
- The Emperors New Groove and Mulan
- Shaun of the Dead (I crack up every time I watch that movie)
- Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow"
- Pirates of the Carribean and Pirates 2.
And I am ashamed to say that I have not seen Schindlers List. It is on my list of movies to watch, I just need time.
Future Movie looking forward to:
Tim Burton is going to do a film version of "Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street", and according to the website, it will remain a musical. I cannot wait to see that movie!
Sooo many movies and books, sooo little time!!!!

If you are really into Elizabeth I, have you seen the PBS mini series Elizabeth R? I think thats probably the best depiction of her and her life that we can get and Glenda Jackson played her so well. I hunted it down and found it on DVD some time back and bought the series. Some days when I am working around the house, I will put that in and watch the whole series. Glenda Jackson also played her in the movie Mary Queen of Scots. The movie I talked about, Anne of 1000 days, is about Elizabeth's mother Anne Bolen and how she went to the chopping block rather than let Henry declare Elizabeth a bastard child unable to inherit the throne. If you can find a copy of Elizabeth R to rent, I would highly recommend it to you. Its a british mini series I think and once in a blue moon you can still see it on PBS, but not often anymore.

I realized people may throw things at me, but for some reason I saw Ryder as blondish - maybe from the Aussie sun. I was even thinking a cameo role for Mel Gibson, or even Leonardo DiCaprio (must be because of Aviator - he did such an awesome job and surprisingly different type of charactor for him. It would be fun to see him in a role where he survives at the end for a change).
I like Jeff Goldblum though (ever since Jurrasic Park where he was delighted to meet the hopefully next ex-Mrs. Malcolm) and I am sure he would play the role well.
I don't think height is that big of a deal since they do so many angle shots and I have read stories of how the male lead would stand on a box to look taller than the leading lady or there would be a shallow trench for the taller woman to walk in to look shorter walking next to the guy.
For some reason I have an image in my head of Vigor with grey hair and blue eyes.

oh yeah, Lord of the Rings for sure. I'll take the tomatoes if they throw them, I love tomatoes by themselves with a little salt.

Top movies are hard to distill into a top 10 list for me. I recently saw Stardust and really liked it. Robert Deniro was cute in a role a little different from what I am used to seeing him in. They all did a good job and it was fun.
I also like the Searchers (I watch it every time it comes around, also The Quiet Man w/John Wayne). Raiders of the Lost Ark (1st one). Jeff Hunter of the Searchers was also in one of my favorite Star Trek original episodes where they did a 2 part flash back to the pilot of the series where Jeff Hunter was Capt. Pike and Jill Ireland was the girl resuced by aliens after a space ship crash. I though how classy to have him in the Star Trek episodes.
Road Warrior with Mel Gibson (2nd in the Mad Max series).
My Brilliant Career with Judy Davis and Sam Neil (I didn't agree with the ending though).
All That Jazz with Roy Scheider.
Blade Runner with Harrison Ford.
Forbidden Planet with Walter Pidgeon & Anne Francis.
Kagemusha - Shadow Warrier - Akira Kurosawa
Comedies - Young Frankenstein (I still quote lines from that movie)
Dennis the Menace with Walter Malthau. I went to a Saturday matinee - the audience was sparse, mostly senior citizens. I was the only one laughing and I tried so hard not to laugh out loud that I was worried I might injure myself (internal injuries from holding in laughter).
West World with Yul Brenner and Richard Benjamin - it hasn't come round through T.V. in a long time.
China Town - I saw James listed this one too.
Jurrasic Park
Pitch Black - this was so scary - there was one scene when they were underground and someone sitting in front of me turned around to smile at me and I then realized I was taking in very loud audible breaths (funny I never heard an exhale though). Vin Diesel's charactor Riddick first showed up in this movie.
Predator with Arnold Schwartzeneger & Carl Withers. My regret was I never saw it in the theatres but only on television.
Fried Green Tomatoes - barbecue will never be the same for me.

I loved Preditor too, very good movie. Hey wasnt Road Warrior the first of the Mad Max movies, where its not all gone yet and his wife is alive? Then Mad Max, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome? I liked that one too. I Love Raiders, the first and 3rd one but the Temple of doom one I didnt like and never bought it even to complete the set. Anyone else here not like the Temple of Doom one? Kurosawa does some awesome films, I have his movie, DREAMS and his first name reminds me of the only Japanese Anime I own, it a long one called AKIRA. Anyone ever see that? And I want to be Katherine Hepburn in On Golden Pond, when I get old lol. I love that they are so in love. That is a really good film and one of the best about an older couple.
P.S. just checked the MAD MAX TRILOGY and your right, Mad Max was first, Road Warrior was second, I remember now because he became the road warrior after his family was killed. I remember too that for a long time Road Warrior was hard to find because of its title not having Mad Max in it.
