Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Hi all!

I'd like to join this group, but I am having trouble figuring out how this works! I'd appreciate some help!

Thanks!

Re: Hi all!

Hi, Laura.

Welcome to Jewish Encounters. What you've done so far is fine -- you can always start a new thread, as you have done here, and use that to ask a question. In general, we have an ongoing discussion going on at the "Community  Conversation" thread -- you simply click on that thread, and then hit "reply" next to a message to get a box to write your message. Then click "submit post." If you are replying to a specific message you may want to click the "quote post" button so that the previous message will be repeated in your post so that other readers know what you are referring to, but if you want to mention something new that is fine, too. In addition to the community thread we have a thread for the book that is currently under discussion -- we'll be starting that up tomorrow with a thread entitled "Questions for Jonathan Rosen." If you have any other questions, you can click on my name and send me an email with your question, and I will try to answer it.

Best,

Rahel

PS -- I noticed your user name is Spiritual Rav -- I'd love to hear more about you!

Re: Hi all!

Hello Rahel!

I look forward to getting to know you too! I'm working against some deadlines now, so I won't be active for a week or two.
