Jon Clinch gives Finn no first name, and certain other characters either have no names at all or names that identify them as archetypes (for example, the Judge, the preacher, and the laundress). How did this naming convention affect your understanding of and involvement with the story? How does this attitude toward names affect our relationships with the characters?
This thread is particularly suitable for those who have read most or all of Jon Clinch's Finn. If you haven't finished the book, please be aware there may be plot spoilers among the posts.
