Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Vampyre,

You don't have to have read them both just to participate, yanno. I'd love to just see your pixels ... and pull you out of any other cyber-holes you might decide to dig for yourself. {grin}

Re: A Welcome Message From the Author

Thanks, but I'd like to have them read before I dive in. I don't like spoilers and no matter how hard people try to avoid posting them, information leaks out.

As an example, I am a very big fan of the TV show Heroes and am a participant at one of the best fan sites for that show. When the season ended, 2 characters flew off and exploded way up in the sky in order to save NYC. Did they survive? Sort of a cliff hanger until I saw a picture of next season's cast and there they were as if nothing happened. :smileyhappy: There was also one guy missing. Last time we saw him, he had a very bad wound. Looks like he died...Drat! All that and more from just one picture.

Right now I know very little about your 2 books. I did read the chapter you had posted on your site and that's it. It was very good and captured my interest. You also come highly recommended. :smileyhappy:

On the other hand, I have heard of a certain author that has let her work go from good to a form of soft porn. I'll not be reading her work even though her earlier work sounds good. I don't mind the characters having a love life but it has to be with in reason and not a blow by blow account.

Your books should be here by the time I finish the Golden Compass. The action there has just went up a notch so I'll be reading it faster now. While I read well, I don't read as fast as a lot of people seem to.

I guess it's like eating. Some people inhale their food. Others take small bites and chew it thoroughly, savoring the flavors. That's how I read I guess. I like to savor my books.

Vampyre,

I'm the same way ... and what about these people who skip to the back of a book and read the last page before reading the rest! Ack! Just the thought makes me break out in hives. {grin}

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them when you do finally get around to them.

Best,
Vicki

Don't get me started! What is the point of that?!

I am an avid computer gamer. One thing that irritates beyond sanity is people that start asking for cheat codes and trainers(a trainer is a way of making an invincible character). If I spend $40.00-$50.00 for a game I sure don't want to cheapen the experience like that. It's the age of Crib Notes and ADD.

I don't know much about computer games but I'm the same way about reading. I like to read slow and thoroughly. You can often find me with my book in hand, looking off in space and thinking about the last revealing sentence I just read!

I haven't had time to pick up Vicki's books but I'm def interested now! I'm sure I'll be stopping by the bookstore soon . . .
