Another choice I have seen suggested is Lucy Liu. She has all the skills to be a good Ivy.

Ok just kiddding.
Actually a movie like this, if there is a movie like this, is better off using new talent for the very reasons you mentioned. Plus, they work for a lot less.

Evangeline Lily as Rachel (Kate on LOST)
Alana De La Garza as Ivy (A.D.A. Connie on Law & Order)
Ryan Reynolds as Jenks (Blade Trinity)
Those are my main three at the moment, the other secondary characters are still fleshing themselves out to me.
Love, trust and pixy dust!

Yeah, Sorry Vampyre, she just doesn't do it for me.That's ok, she has plenty of other fans here.
I like the suggestion of China Chow that was mentioned earlier. She has the look of someone mixed like I would imagine Ivy does...only slightly Asian in appearance. I also like the suggestion of Morgan Freeman for Keasley...though it would be a change from playing the role of God
Ryan Reynolds is another good suggestion for Jenks. I don't remember much about Dennon's (I think that's how it is spelled) appearance, I only know that I don't like him at all. I am only coming up with Cole Hauser as a guy that plays a good bad guy. I'm not sure if he matches nationality-wise though.
mmm Ryan Reynolds *drool* haha
Anyway...yes I still think China Chow is a good one for Ivy. She's not completely Asian but still has those dark features that scream "I can kick some butt". Also she hasn't been in many movies that I can remember... I think it'll be hard to cast someone for Rachel, and I agree with everyone else that she of all people should be a new actress, a fresh face with a personality that can match what we see in the books. Then again, it seems any time movies/shows are made from books it never seems to capture that completely. Still fun to dream though!

As for Jenks, Ryan Renolds could do the trick. I'd say Dane Cook as well, though I've not seen much of him.
With Keasley, Morgan Freeman would be an excellent match, I think, though him playing the role could have a similar effect as Kate playing Ivy. As for James Earl Jones playing Keasley, he's an awesome actor (J.E. Jones and Morgan Freeman share the #1 spot in my book), though he has a dominance to him, especially his voice; a strength I think could overpower the character.
Nick. From the moment I first read a scene with nick in it, I, for some reason, pictured Scott Speedman. Don't ask me why, as I have no idea. However, he may make a good Nick, and I've not seen anyone else suggest Speedman as Nick, although I could have overlooked it in the previous posts.
Those could work. However, as the above mentioned theory with the well known actors could occur, it would probably be best for all of the characters to be played by new and upcoming actors, or actors that are not so well known, but can fit the role.
Actors aside, probably the ultimate way to get the characters and stories across as a whole perfectly, and it's been suggested by others, would be not via live action but via anime. Virtually anything, visually, can be done, and voice actors can match up with the characters perfectly, without having to also match an actor to a character visually. Not everyone is into anime, but it would most likely be the perfect medium, aside from the written books, with which to portray the characters as Ms. Harrison intended them to be portrayed. And it wouldn't have to be limited to classic animation. It could also be done with CGI, such as Square Enix did with some of their films--Final Flight of the Osiris and Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children are examples. It seems CGI movies keep getting better and better, more photorealistic. And after seeing Transformers and the CGI involved there, I think CGI Anime would be an awesome way to go with a film or series.
Any thoughts on that?
