Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Last Week

Hello all:

Just wanted to let you all know that this is our last week with Kim- this book club will end on Friday, and the new clubs will start next Monday.

I know you'll all want to get in any last questions for Kim this week (not that she'll give away any secrets...) and cover any topics that you're still pondering.

This has been such an excellent group, I surely hate to see it end.

Kim, you'll have to come back and see us again. Soon. No, sooner than that! :smileyhappy:

Re: Last Week

[in sing-song voice from old Carol Burnett Show] "i'm so glad we had this time together..." [tugs on ear] For all the twelve-year olds on the site, look it up on the web - was a great show... I have them all on DVD! ;-)

Any-hoo... Kim, it has been a great pleasure to get to hear from you. Thanks for the endless [and sometimes repetitive - speaking from my own posts!] questions/theories and flights-of-fancy. It has been a wonderful diversion these past few weeks!

Thanks to my fellow fans! Really enjoyed seeing everyone's thoughts on these incredible stories - and sharing a little 'unabashed gushing'!! ;-0

Re: Last Week

I hate to see it end, it was a blast. I guess we will have to move the party over to Vicki's place. We can still see Kim on her comments page. Don't forget that.

Re: Last Week

Aw it's almost over.

It's been really fun having our questions answered by the person who knows the Hollows the best.

Thank you, Ms. Harrison for taking time out to answer them and for putting up with our conspiracy theories. Too many times an author is just a name on a book and the FAQ part of their webpage isn't all that helpful.

Speaking of helpful, it's been great to have moderators that have actually read the book :smileyhappy: I've heard horror stories when a mod has no idea about what they're moderating.

I'll stop rambing now =0)

Re: Last Week

Hey Guys,

If you really like this kind of message board format, there is a fan-run message board called Rhombus where we just love discussing the Hollows. :smileywink: Kim doesn't post there but it's a small forum so far and it's pretty easy to stay up on what's going on. I'm the same username there but I've not posted in a while, just lurking lately since there isn't much going on. We could use new people to liven up the discussions!

Here's the link which can also be found on Kim's website under "Links:"

It's been great fun this month! Thanks Kim!

Re: Last Week

Friday? I've got a few more days left! Noooo! (Frantically gripping the edge, struggling to remain before I slip over the edge and to oblivion.) ;-)

Really, it's been a blast. I've truly enjoyed getting to know everyone here, and this is a great set up. Am I correct in assuming that this forum will stay around for a brief time after to tie things up?

Yes, everyone! Let us not allow the discussion and commentary to end!

There are other places to which we can migrate:

http://kimharrison.net
: With her Comments/Questions section.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_hollows/
: Kim’s official Yahoo group. Thousands of members and tons of discussion! Kim posts there as well!

http://z9.invisionfree.com/rhombus/index.php?act=idx
: Rhombus discussion boards. Smaller membership but very dedicated fans and in message board format.

Thanks to everyone for a great month and hope to see you there!

Re: Last Week

Vampyre,

Very funny!

I have to know what you do that you can read at work-I would love that!

I really hope you do join Vicki's group, the books are superb. My children are getting annoyed because I'm constantly waving them away. I was even reading during our walk this morning. Of course, son was jogging and daughter was on a scooter, so they didn't really care. :smileyhappy:

Re: Last Week

"I have to know what you do that you can read at work-I would love that!"

Well I thought it was pretty obvious, I don't really do anything. I work 2 12 hour shifts get full bennies and paid for 30 hours. :smileyhappy: technically, I am a guard at a saw mill but I 'do' more than that. If a truck picks up a load, I weigh them and print up a trip ticket. On a typical weekend, I may see 2 trucks. Usually its zero.

Twelve hours is a long time to do nothing so I am allowed to read, surf, and watch DVD's I just have to make sure the place doesn't get stolen or burn down before Monday rolls around again. In 2 years, I have had to put our 5 fires. So far I have been lucky and they were all small ones.

It would be a good job for someone that wants a lot of alone time to do some writing. I like it.

Oh during the week, I fill in a day or two as a log inspector. Can't read or anything there, too much to do. My joke title is Forrester Junior, Bob. If I want a laugh when I come in, I snap to attention after entering the office and say, "Forrester Junior Bob, on the JOB!" and snap up a salute. Gets them every time.

I am 10 chapters into SoS now. Once I finish both books, I'll jump into Showgirl's discussion. That should be her screen name. :smileyvery-happy: Book 4 "Screaming Shadows: by Vicki Pettersson aka "Showgirl" I better go hide now.

Re: Last Week

Telling me all that makes me want to call you either Junior or Bob, you know that, right? :smileyhappy: Excellent choice of job by the way- I could do a solitary job. I think I'm one of those people who rejuvinate when I'm alone.

I don't think Vicki's going to let you call her "Showgirl" - but by the time you're done reading her books, I'm going to be able to call you "impressed." She did a bang up job, and Kim wasn't kidding when she wrote (for the cover of Vicki's first book) "The Scent of Shadows came out of nowhere and slapped me silly."

Re: Last Week

Call me anything you like as long as you don't call me late for dinner. :smileyhappy:

I know about calling VP 'Showgirl'. I'm only joking and I mean no disrespect by it. Like, Kim, she seems like a very nice person. If it'll make her feel better, she can call me Forrester Jr. Bob. :smileywink:
