Happy New Year - 2010

To all of the Kingdom of Wordsmithonia!  I decree a year of joy-------and

Blessings bestow you

upon this new year

time for all

to be close and near

From good health-------and

true wealth

to magical things

dance to the tunes

of wondrous flings

Be it safe in your travels-----or

snug in your homes

return to the Kingdom

your castle with gnomes!  :smileyhappy:

QMum, Kathy

Duchy of Highland Palms

What would you like this year to bring you?  Any New Year's wishes or resolutions?  What would you like to see happen, here, in the Kingdom?

The magic of the blue moon for the new year:

Blue Moon   Blue Moon Sighting To Kick Off 2010

Published by Xi Yu on January 01, 2010 at 9:00PM

If you were too busy partying it up with your family last night to glance up at the sky, FlyBy can assure you that the Blue Moon as promised was nothing too special. It wasn't even blue.

According to Science.NASA.gov, the term "Blue Moon" is used to describe the phenomenon of two full moons occurring within the same month. This occurrence is rare—seen on average once every 2.5 years—since the moon cycle of 29.5 days is about the same period of each calendar month.

It's even rarer for a Blue Moon to occur on New Year's Eve. The last time a Blue Moon took place on Dec. 31 was in 1990. If you missed last night's, don't worry. There will be another one for you to miss again on New Year's Eve in 2028.

Re: Happy New Year - 2010

[ Edited ]

Thanks, Pepper.  I totally forgot about the moon.   I'll remember next time. (only if you remind me)  Ha!

Here was my New Years Eve. I was in bed, asleep, when my phone lit up blue...a text from a friend, wishing me a happy new year.  I texted back, the same, and went back to sleep....thirty minutes later, my phone lit up again....the same message from my friend.....I tried to go back to  sleep....when thirty minutes later it went off, again.....I figured she'd had too much celebrating!  I turned my phone off!  The next day she said she only had two glasses of wine, and she and her ten year old niece were outside banging pots and pans together, ringing in the new year.  January is a special month for her, as she is a breast cancer survivor.

I was supposed to go to a new years eve party, but flaked out....too lazy to get dressed, or too tired, take your pick.  I had had my two grandkids, two days in a row, prior....and all I want to do, now, is stay in bed and sleep and read!  But I started the new year off with a walk.  I met a guy coming around the corner, who had the same idea!  The sun is out in full force right now, and it's going to be a warm day.... so I have no excuse for sitting here!  My walks need to be more than just "once in a blue moon".  :smileyhappy:

I hope your ringing in the new year was spent in a way that was a little livelier than mine!

My son, I wish you and my grandson, Prince Aidan, the happiest of happiest new year!  Get some rest, we have a new year ahead of us!  I see we have, also, a new member to add to the realm!  When you have a moment to spare, please introduce our latest members.  I still have not been given, by our courtly Knights of the Square Table, the instructions to proceed further.

Lovingly,

QMummy, Kathy

Re: Happy New Year - 2010

Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I am sorry I have been away from the Kingdom as of late.  It has been crazy in catching up with all things of paper and such with all the holidays together here.  People have been running ragid trying to keep the grounds in order for all the visitors who have come to see the light display and decorations.  We have made many trips as well, to see many sites and family members who have not come to our lovely castle.

Now, we are starting to get things back on schedule and back to the normal daily routines. (we hope)

I do wish all the residents and visitors here in Wordsmithonia a Happy and Safe New Year!  May you all prosper in 2010 with your jobs, money, family, and health.  I hope all goes extremely well for you all in this new year.

Now, about resolutions?  I have a few for me personally.  But, for here in Wordsmithonia I plan to try to visit more often and send letters to my friends here.  I am hoping for a great expedition when the weather breaks.  Yes, an expedition... we have heard word of an old tale and we are thinking of taking a look beyond the boundrys of the world to see if it is true.  We are not sure if we will be making the run or not so I don't want to get anyones hopes up.  We will do more research into the tales and have to let you know at a later time.

Till later my friends of Wordsmithonia, have a great new year and wonderful day.

Lady Melissa

Re: Happy New Year - 2010

Lady Melissa, how wonderful to hear your voice, once again, and happy to know things of your realm are getting back to some normalcy after the holidays.

I have, myself, recently entered into one of the storage areas of the dungeon, with the help of Mickey and Goofy, and have gone through box after box of useless papers.  Eight years seems long enough to store this memorablia.  The castle just is not big enough for these things, any longer, so they will soon be torched.  The Solarium has a fireplace large enough to roast a hurd of beef in, therefore I think it will suit my needs, in so far as disposing of these papers.  I guess my aged thinking has brought these thoughts to the surface.  Who, I might ask, would be interested in all that I've done with my life?  I am too old to go back to what once was.  Ending the year on a note in a major key, telling me it is time to clean my castle!

An expedition? Sounds intriguing! I do wish to know what is happening....you are tantalizing my senses....please do tell!

Stay safe and warm!

Yours,

Qeen Mother,

Kathy, Duchy of Highland Palms
