Well I'm no poet but here goes nothing:

Pine Tree

Green and brown standing

tall and proud, pinecone falling

It's along way down.

Use this thread for your Haiku.

Dearest Queen Mother Kathy,

I hesitate to point out that this is still the same thread.  I do, however, applaud the idea of a separate thread for entries, as this thread is growing by leaps and bounds, and it is difficult to find the haiku posts among it.

I will be submitting multiple entries, as I have quite a store of haiku that I have written, that I call "Magnetic Haiku", as I have composed them using my magnetic poetry set, which I have found that the haiku form suits admirably.  I keep all of the pronouns, prepositions, etc. available, and choose a group of nouns, verbs, and adjectives at random, from which I pick according to my inspiration, occasionally changing this group.  The challenge will be in selecting the choicest of this lot for this august competition.  I have not, as yet, titled any of them, but I will do my best, and hope that they will please.

Re: The Kingdom of Wordsmithonia: haiku contest???

[ Edited ]

You can vote when ever you want to and you can vote as many times as you want to.  Any tie will be broken by me

And I thank the Queen Mother for showing us a clean and concise way to post the haiku entries

King Ryan,

So all the voting should wait until the time limt is up right? Oh and does each person only get to vote for one or can they vote for as many as they want ? And voting is done through the laurels?

Sorry about all the questions!!

Re: Coulrophobia - Rolly Polly and dragon problems

Queen Mother of Wordsmithdom,

Kinya and myself would be cordially honored to have tea with such a gracious Queen Mother and court.  Kinya feels blessed to have the opportunity to be introduced to the other dragons of the township.

Kinya is young in her years but is aged in her knowledge from dragon history.  She does not want to relive any of the horrid history between human and dragon.  She will not feed on any plants or livestock unless asked first in the Kingdom.  She, too, has mentioned to me of the dragons that are still about who do not feel the same as she for human kind.  They too concern her.  She does hope to help in what way she can to put a stop to the miss use of trust and harm between people and dragons.  Unfortunatly there are always some that make it very difficult for all to have peace.

Please have your squire let us know what day would be best suited for you and Kinya and I will be there with you.

Lady Melissa

The Kingdom of Wordsmithonia

My son, I am retiring early tonight, with a cup of tea, I feel a headache forming at this time.  I would ask that you and your sister keep the fires burning tonight, and any further questions concerning this Haiku contest, please note.  And, also, would you be so kind as to address Dame Dulci's inquiries for me?  I must lie down now.

Re: POST HAIKU HERE - TITLE POEM in MESSAGE SUBJECT LINE:

Dame Dulcinea,

I thank you for the many entries into our haiku contest, I have no problems with such a manner.  I think they are all worthy of consideration.  Mother, the Queen Dowager Kathy, wanted me to inform you that though we are keeping the contest entries on this thread, we are quite positive that our Nobles and those of the lesser Ranks are all intelligent individuals and should have no problems finding the entries.  We did toy with the idea of starting a seperate thread for the purpose but we were informed by one of the deities that they would appreciate us to leave it on this thread.  So when one of the gods speak, use humble mortals must listen.

Re: The Kingdom of Wordsmithonia

Mother, have a good evening.  I was thinking about reading by the fire tonight myself.  I will send Melvin to you after he finishes my fire (about 2 miliseconds).  Don't forget to take your pills that Dr. Arrowsmith gave you for your headaches.

Best Dreams

Your loving Son King Ryan

Re: The Royal Gardenhat Party

[ Edited ]
Dear Rulers of Wordsmithonia
I am mightily pleased that my Queen's invitation to her GardenHat Party was well received by your Royal Family, your Illustrious Nobles and your Citizens and that you are looking forward to being able to eat thinly cut salmon and cucumber sandwiches  in the bath when you have received your BathGarters from the Royal Hand.
The designated day is April First Two Thousand and Nine at High Noon. I suggest hats like those worn at Ascot should be worn, only with a flower or vegetable theme.  Funky Wellington Boots are also de rigeur  .  Wearing gardening aprons with tools in the tool pockets  would be appreciated (and may earn you medals) as during the current economic downturn, Her Majesty has acquired the habit of ordering her guests to do some gardening between drinking their cups of Earl Grey Tea because she has cut back on her gardening staff.  Under your aprons I suggest you wear some form of American traditional clothing, perhaps representing the state in which you live. Her Majesty is fond of Traditions and would also appreciate a Haiku in her honour, especially as the Japanese Ambassador will be present.

Although Frogs are not allowed at Buckingham Palace I am happy to tell Lady Melissa that Dragons are welcome and that there is a Dragon Sand Park in the garden where the Royal Welsh Dragons play at fire-raising.    Princess Debs' dogs will also be welcome into the Royal Corgi Enclosure although I must warn her that Her Majesty's corgi's have the reputation of being rather bad tempered and that any harm to them might result in her dogs and herself being put in the Tower!
The Mall is the road leading down to Buckingham Palace and I suggest we meet at The Admiralty Arch  to process in ceremony to the Palace Yard, where you will be greeted by the Royal Footmen before being escorted to the GardenHat Party.  This will afford the Papparazzi an opportunity to photograph you in your finery before you begin to mingle with other illustrious guests. It will also enable the American Television companies to feature you on their evening news programmes, thus spreading the news of your Glorious KingQueenDom and Barnes & Noble BookClubs far and wide.
Please let me know if there is any other information on Royal (N)etiquette you require.
I remain
Your Umble Savant
(Lady?) Choisya

Re: The Royal Gardenhat Party

Lady Choisya, (Yes Lady, read the first post on this thread)

Thank you so much for getting back to us as quickly as you did.  I have already instructed our Royal Clothiers to get suitable ensambles ready for Dowager Queen Kathy, Scribe Princess Deb, and myself.  Any other Nobles that will be attending the GardenHat Party will, I'm sure, being suitably decked out.

I appreciate your offer to meet us and escort us in.  I think it is a grand idea and look forward to posing for numerous pictures for the paparazzi.

Re: The Royal Gardenhat Party

Madame Carmen,

I apologize that I inadverntly gave laurels to your post though I have pubically stated I was not going to be voting, since I give two laurels at a time.  I was trying to check who gave you laurels, and presto I ended up doing so myself.  I feel this small mistep on my part is unfortunate and when I tally votes when voting is done, I will have to take those two laurels out of the total.  I do deeply apologize.
