Thank you for the heads-up, Lady TiggerBear!  I thought my old eyes were deceiving me this morning, as I was looking out my window and saw something that I THOUGHT was a Troll flying by!  Oh, my!  That was a sight for sore eyes!   Head first, into the side of the ice castle!  I may join in later, after I eat a little breakfast fortification.  I am thinking I may borrow one of the knight's suit of armor, just to be on the safe side!

Of course my Queen. We set up lights so anyone can join in when ever night of day. And there's lightweight across armor, helmets, and shields in all sizes available for the more easily bruised. Just tell the stuart which rampart you'll be fighting from the sunburst orange team or the magenta red team. :smileyvery-happy:

Snow People

Apparently, the two Snow Men that our King Ryan invited to Wordsmithonia for our Winter Festival were so Impressed with the Cold Welcome (well, they would hardly enjoy a Warm Wecome! :smileywink: ) that they received, they have Spread the Word and other Snow People are arriving in our Realm.  I was Walking in my Gardens this Morning, and found that I had some Guests:

I hope that nobody will be Shocked at their lack of Attire, but they explained to me that Clothing makes them warm up and Melt!  They had also brought a Servant to tend to their Horse:

I told them that they would be Welcome to stay on my Grounds at Fantasia as long as it stays Cold.  Later, I was a little Startled to look up and see This Vision at the top of the wall!

I must admit that they make me a little Uneasy, and I hope that they go stay at Someone Else's Castle!

I am Most Impressed by the Lovely Snow Sculptures rising up all over the Realm!  I am sure that the Judges will have a very Difficult time!

Yours,

Dame Dulcinea

Re: Snow People

[ Edited ]

Lady Dulcinea,

The snow people (sculptures), who have come to the festival, are just fine, and welcome.  Although, in their au Naturel state, and the horse they rode in on.....they may have caused a few lookiloos to congregate on the fence.  And I'm afraid more will come later.  I will have our guards summoned to remove the oglers, if they become a nuisance..  They must have gotten bored shooting the Trolls out of the launchers, or visa versa....some look a little worse for wear!

Early this morning, we had two more late arrivals.  They came here to get married, and find accomodations for their honeymoon.  I am not sure if they chose our Kingdom because of its well known hospitality and food, or because of this First Winter Festival.  I told them that we would find someone to marry them, and construct them sleeping quarters.  Cooled to the perfect temperature of 29F.  I hadn't expected this many snow visitors.  But, never fear, we shall accommodate them all!

Re: Winter Festival - Snow Sculptures!

Dumbo posed for this one!  See the little feather on the end of his nose?

And this eagle flew over just as one of the trolls turned on the ice blowing machine....I'm sure once he thaws, he'll be okay.

This one seems to be the family favorite!

To All The Realm,

It has been brought to my attention that our Witner Festival has attracted a few off the Snow Monsters from all areas of the world.  Now my Ambassador of Friendly Greetings has assured me that they are the good monsters so please do not run and hide when you see them for it may hurt their feelings.

I will post their pictures so you will be able to recognize them.

Re: Winter Festival - Snow Monsters!

[ Edited ]

My Dear Son,

I am so glad you assured us of the friendliness of these Snow Monsters.  I would certainly be afraid of them, if I had not been assured!  I have the chills, just looking at them!  I will try not to show this fear, when we meet!  I would not want them to feel unwanted, although, it seems the staff is having a hard time communicating with them.  We are not sure of their language, or what food they like to eat.

One of them, it appears, is eating the rabbits that harmlessly come out at night to nibble the clover on the south lawns.  This killing is not acceptable, but we have no way of telling this Monster to stop.  We do not know their language  for the word STOP!.  Perhaps, when you have the time, you can break through this language barrier?

I just had word that Bugs is telling all of his friends to hide, just until the Festival is over, which will be March 1.  Hopefully these Monsters will have other places to seek out their food.  In the meantime, rabbit stew is off the menu!

Lady TiggerBear,

Now I remember where I had seen him last. If you are interested in getting your $20. back,  he is over playing with the snowpeople, behind the igloo village.  For some reason they decided to decorate the fir trees, and he is trying to put a star on one them.

I'll ask. It's ok if he forgot though.

I think I'll ask the chefs if they can spin some sugar for him, Bumble loves that stuff.

Re: Winter Festival - Snow Monsters!

Mother, I just found out that the language barrier has been fixed and that all communications have been fixed between us and the snow monsters. They now know that all live game is off limits as we have quite a few sentient creatures that look like animals. I had a long talk with Bugs and he assured me that thankfully none of the rabbits eaten were sentient and were of the common wild game variety. Though that doesn't make anyone feel better about the situation. Is seems they all enjoy snowball fighting and like to be tickled behind their ears. That is a great idea!  I think, last year, Cookie Carrot-Top put the cotton candy machine down in the party storage room, in the dungeon.

Check with him.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, cotton candy.  A rainbow of colors would be a wonderful addition to our final days of Winter Festival. I think the cooks could even make some cotton candy pops for Bumble!

Also, I do love snow cones!  Do you?  Cherry and grape and blue raspberry are my favorites.  I'll see if I can find the syrup.  We certainly have enough snow for everyone!  Snowball, Queen Pollenasia's cat, loves them too!

First Winter Festival - Closing Ceremonies

Thank you so much, my son. It is with great relief to hear that this language barrier is now broken!  I must say, the cooks are relieved, as well.  Some of the game, which are raised on the property, are designated for our banquets.  I know that meat is part of a diet our guests enjoy.  I do, myself, enjoy a good rabbit stew once a year.  But, as you say, many of these animals are part of our large family.  And to hear that they might have been killed, brought me much grief.  My mind is now at ease.

As I am now able to approach these 'monsters', (during a game of snowball fighting) and communicate with obvious good intentions, I asked them if they would enjoy sculpting snow, for everyone to see.

They proudly took me by the hand, and led me to an area of the lawn to show me their art work.  Interesting, to say the least!  I told them I was very impressed!  I was able to tell them we will be having a special feast tonight, at the closing ceremonies,  in honor of this coming together of all winter creatures and people.  I hope everyone will enjoy the food, singing, dancing, and parades, showing off all contributions to this fun First Winter Festival, within the Kingdom of Wordsmithonia!

And I am happy to say, Frosty's hat was recovered, safe and sound, with the diligence of Lady TiggerBears recruits...Frosty is so thrilled to have his magic hat back!   We made him, and Lady TiggerBear, the guest of honor at a special breakfast, this morning....(where Frosty confided in me, he will be going back on his diet as soon as Spring arrives!)

Special sweatshirts, for kids, adults, and monsters, will be given out, tonight. And also in honor of Frosty, and this weeks fun in the snow, a new stamp was made by our  artist-engravers, in memory of our Kingdom's First Winter Festival!  How exciting is that?!!!  See you all tonight!  Tomorrow, the procession of guests will be leaving.  I will be sad to see them depart so soon!

Re: First Winter Festival - Closing Ceremonies

[ Edited ]

Queen Kathy and King Ryan,

Thank You so much for the Lovely Winter Festival!  And I Love my Souvenir Sweatshirt!

I also enjoyed the Fancy Snow Cones!

The various Snow People and Creatures that were staying on my Grounds have Departed.  I must admit that I am Glad that the Bumble has departed the Realm, as I have always been Led to Believe that Bumbles are only Friendly if their Teeth have been Removed. (Having No Teeth also would explain a Predilection for Cotton Candy!)

I would not let my Cats go Outside while that Toothy Bumble was in the Vicinity.  Of course, Cats do not like to go out in the Snow in the First Place, so that was not a Big Problem!

I have Composed a Winter Haiku for our Realm:

Wordsmithonia

Beautiful in Wintertime

Warm Welcome for All

Obeisantly Yours,

Dame Dulcinea

Re: First Winter Festival - Closing Ceremonies

Lady Dulcinea, thank you so much for attending and participating in our First Winter Festival.  You made it an even better success. I hope those that came to our Kingdom, enjoyed it as much as the rest of us who live here. I am also happy you liked your sweatshirt.

Yes, Bumble was a bit scary, wasn't he?  But, Lady TiggerBear assured us of his being harmless.  I managed to avoid him!

I spent a lot of my time getting everyone situated, and not letting the snowball fights get to far out of hand.  And also soothing Burgess, keeping him from pulling his hair completely out over the snow people who insisted on coming into the castle, and tracking wet footprints across the floors.  But, other than these small issues to deal with, we had a grand time, I thought.  All the staff delt with any eating problems, or sleeping arrangement problems that arose.  And as Frosty left, he assured us that he would be back next year!  I was happy to hear that his stolen hat wasn't going to spoil his fun, as it was returned, everything ended on a positive note!

To everyone who enjoyed themselves, here in the Kingdom, for our First Winter Festival, I invite you all back, again, this time next year!

We are now into the month of March...what next shall we see happen in the Kingdom?

Queen Mother,

Kathy
