So this is my new favorite pattern book. I want to make everything in this book - all 25 patterns - including the things that I know I would never wear once I made them. The point of every pattern is to help the knitter learn to make beautiful knitted items that are actually fitted for her body (or the recipient's body). At the beginning, Japel includes a guide to help alter a pattern to achieve a good fit; each pattern includes a schematic showing the dimensions in inches and centimeters so Japel's instructions can easily be applied to a project.
The book is divided into "Tubes, Tanks, and Tees," "Shrugs, Cardigans, and Wraps," "Sweaters, Vests, and Coats," and "Dress-Up Clothes." The patterns are marked Supereasy, Medium, and Challenge and the directions are very easy to read. The photography is also done very well.
I've already made the "Two-Tone Ribbed Shrug" (p 45) and I'm working on the "Back-to-School U-neck Vest" (p 83) and I have plans to make the "Cozy V-Neck Pullover with Deep Ribbing." I also have a hankering for a few of the cardigans (can you tell I'm always cold?).

This is also one of my favorite books. I work in a knitting store and all the ladies are so impressed with her instructions on fitting a sweater instead of having it "hang" on you. Great book for petites as well. I took her class at the TNNA convention in Ohio. She is a lovely person and an amazing knitter. All of you will love the book. My daughter has made 3 garments from this book and I have made the shrug as well as the pattern she taught in the class. Looking forward to more of her designs.
