Through word-of-mouth, the book has become a huge success and spurred many parents to start hiding elf dolls in the middle of the night. Now you can buy everything from Elf on the Shelf plush dolls to mugs and cookie plates. This Friday, November 25, CBS will air an animated special based on the book. I first heard about The Elf on the Shelf a few years ago from a co-worker, who was ecstatic over how well her children behaved during the holiday season. All she had to do was mention their scout elf, and her kids would stop fighting and whining. Since then other parents have told me how much their kids adore their elf and the story that goes with it, and I’ve been thinking about starting this tradition with my own little ones. I'd love to hear from those of you who've read the book and have brought a scout elf into your home. How has it worked for your family?
