Re: What books are people reading in travel?

How about a great travel writer like Paul Theroux or Bruce Chatwin?  Or even Henry James?

If your taking a trip to Amsterdam, how about preceding it by The Island at the Center of the World, a story of the influence of the Dutch on the evolving U.S.?  (I was part of a group that did that (sorta) a few years ago.)

Recently, my "travel reading" has been through The Inferno with Dante, his translators and the commentators, and the crew of us over on the EPICS board!  Thankfully, we are about to move on to Purgatorio!
