Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

Re: CHILDREN OF GOD: Chapters 14 through 26

Another very interesting charecter is Suukamel Very different than any other of the Jaanaata women. She seems to understand Kitheri and uses her knowlege to change things for the better. In chap.21. She talks with Danny. I like this side of Danny much better than the way he was on the ship. Or back on earth.    .

Yes, that is another teaser.  How does Danny become kinder and gentler, as Sophia found him too?  What happens?

Thats a good question. I think that Suukamel has a way of indirect speech. That puts Danny at ease. Even though he questions the methods that have brought about the change in the old ways of Jan'aata. He thinks Kitheri still used the Runa as informants in the Jan'aata high officials homes. And Kitheri used that information to weed out family's who were resistant to the New ways. But Suukamel says in Chap.21. That is was the only way he could have done it and it had to be that way.

I also think that alot of the pressure is off Danny now that he is on Rakhat. He is able to talk to Sofia & Suukamel as he did with the older women of his family who he listened to and thought were wise.He enjoys talking with them. He wants to hear their story. He respects them. The ride to rakhat on the Bruno was hell for him. Even leading up to getting Sandoz to get on the ship. He didn't want to take him. He thought they would be fine without Sandoz.Until the Father General Guliani & the Pope insisted that Sandoz had to go and out ranked him.
