Please use this thread to discuss the story "Mazie".
I read and knit and dance. Compulsively feel yarn. Consume books. Darn tights. Drink too much caffiene. All that good stuff.

A day in the life of Mazie, the same Mazie from “Piccadilly.” She seems to be forced to live life in the moment, not wanting to see her near future in Norah, or her more distant future in the old lady begging for money. She is living day to day, hoping for the best.
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.

In this one, I think we see the softer side of Mazie; for a while, anyway. In the previous story, I thought she came off as hard and tough. Life had beaten her down and taken away her dreams. But here we see that she does still have dreams and feelings, in her excitement at the wedding, and even more so in the conversation she has with the young man by the river. Of course, by the end, her shell is back up and she is once again the tough girl, living in the moment, even though she has a good idea how she will end up.
