THE FORGOTTEN GARDEN: Discussion Schedule April 2013

Just in time for April showers - a book about a garden!

Not really.  As a child, "Nell" arrives alone in Australia in 1913 - with only a suitcase and a book of fairytales - and is adopted by the dockmaster.  At 21 she goes in search of her origins.  The story is alternately told by Nell and her granddaughter Cassandra as they uncover the mystery at two different point in time.  The Forgotten Garden is Kate Morton's second novel and I think some of us participated in the First Look group for her debut novel, The House at Riverton.

I was originally going to break the book up according the parts but they seemed sort of uneven so its going to be by chapter number.

Week 1, April 1 - April 7: Chapters 1 - 10

Week 2, April 8 - April 14: Chapters 11 - 20

Week 3, April 15 - April 21: Chapters 21 - 30

Week 4, April 22 - April 28: Chapters 31 - 40

Week 5, April 29 - May 4: Chapters 41 - Epilogue, and the Novel as a Whole

The Forgotten Garden is available in hardcover, paperback, NOOKbook, audio, and a NOOK collection (packaged with The House at Riverton, Morton's first novel).

Not to be argumentative, but according to my hardcover, the parts are quite even, each about 180-200 pages.

Really?  Ugh, they were so hard to find in my paperback.  I blame the fancy deckled edges :smileytongue:

I have just found the book in my local public library in French, no book to buy overseas, it's great!

Thanks, Melissa, for mentioning this book on Friday's Nook Blog!  At half-price, I decided to take a chance and after reading about seven chapters, I am so glad I did! :smileyhappy:

Are there threads set up? (Or do I need to do something cache-y to my computer?)
