Well, hello everyone. I'm Stephen, I'm 16, and I'm a very inspired reader. A few years back, I was reading a book for my english class. I can't remember the title of the auther, nor can I remember any of the cover art. I remember most of the story, outside of character names/locations.
The overview: At the beginning of the story, a man is in a forest by himself. He hears chains rattling and notices that they belong to a horse. It explains how the horse that still has chains is one that is still in between the spirit state and the state of being alive. He chases it down for a while and eventually catches him. Soon after, they have to flee because fire is coming in from all directions. After they get out, the man finds himself being attacked by a giant bird, possible a Harpie, if I am remembering correctly. He takes a lot of damage, but this is where it is revealed to the reader that he has the ability to heal after he has been wounded. Throughout the story, he is making his way to the a castle. Speaking of which, I left out a bit at the beginning. Before it delves into the man in the forest, it begins with a young girl in a castle, who talks to the ghosts who reside there. She has a magican scroll of sorts, that allows her to view the story of a man in the far past. (The one who finds the horse.) She has to have a very special potion to clean the scroll so she can watch it. After she gets it, this is where it dives into the story. He travels a long way, eventually ending up at the castle. Some of the main things I remember about the story is that in the middle of the world, there is a very large, very deep crevise in the middle that he finds himself in very often. When he gets to the castle, he is given three magic items. They test his ability to leave the castle, complete tasks, and make it back. Each brings forth a challengs. In one of the challengs, I remember that he is on a mountain that begins to turn to mush, and he has to make his way off of it. There is a woman in the story who happens to be half demon, if I remember that correctly. The man has to bring her back to the castle, but she doesn't want to go because she doesn't like him. At the end of the book, it goes back to reality, with the little girl, and she is talking to another ghosts in the castle, who happens to be the ghost of the woman who was being taken to the castle by the man. There is a way to bring the two of them back to life, but they need to bones of each of them, aswell as a special potion. The woman, back when the man died, burried his bones in different spots outside of the castle. Remembering where they are, she agrees to get them so the man can be brought back to life.
That is a very basic overview, and I apologize if it's not very helpful. I't's been killing me that I can't remember the title of this book. If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, everyone.
