Help! I can't remember this book's title or author!

I read this a pre-teen in the late 70's. A sister and brother from Greenwich Village run away from home into NYC, the sister is older by a few years. I remember that she thought of ways to keep the two of them fed, sleep safely, and out of trouble, keeping the police from spotting them as runaways. They scooped money out of a fountain, spent considerable time in one of the main museums, and spent a good bit of time in the big city. This was the first time I'd heard of Greenwich Village, and my mom corrected my pronunciation (not pronounced like the color or with the 'W' sound!) Not alot of info, but hopefully someone can remember this (obscure?) book.

Definitely From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. I love that book! Apparently they made it into a not so great TV movie with Lauren Bacall. If you like this book, I highly recommend The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. I still enjoy reading it as an adult.
