PLEASE HELP! ![]()
i read a historic romance/ regency novel about a month ago. Its about a woman who lives in the country who is a very successful author who is going to write another book about gambling. So she goes into the city (maybe london) for research and ends up stopping a murder attempt on one of biggest gambling clubs there. As a thank you his 2nd in command allows her to visit the club for her research against the owners wishes. The owner and the girl end up falling in love, but he doesn't believe in love and so they run into trouble. She is already almost engaged to a man in the country but his mother doesn't like her. The author goes back to the country but isn't happy with her former man... and she gets an opportunity to go back to the city because she goes to a mutual friends house for a party. They get married, but he previously had an affair with a married woman who doesn't take "no" for an answer. and eventually burns down the club and takes his wife (the author woman) but she gets out and takes the woman who kidnaps her back home. in the meanwhile her husband is completely lost in grief because he thinks she is dead. She comes back to find him at the burned club where he is crying and he ends up finally letting her all the way in his heart... in the epilogue she has a baby and they are happily married.
I know this book sounds kinda cheesy... but it was an enjoyable read, that i would like to read again..
