Read a book and forgot the title and author, Science fiction/fantasy/thriller

Hey!

This may be a weird question but a few years back (in 2009) I once read a book, but I was too young to actually understand it. So now I want to read it again but I really don't remember the title nor the author. I do remember it had a lot of pages and some of the content though.

There were multiple main characters, each chapter was about one of the characters. The story starts with 2 teenagers who discovered a computer game. They want to log in but they need to figure a password first. The boy says to the girl that they may not help each other because that wouldn't be fair. They both find the password, it has something to do with scrabble if I remember well. They get more and more involved in the game. A few chapters further there's suddenly an old man who gets killed. Then even more chapters further there's a journalist/detective (she was searching for a mass murder) She finds out that the victims of the mass murder are dead but there's no evidence of how they were killed. She gets to meet a man (who is quite famous I think, because she interviewed him for an article) but when she goes to his house she finds jars with brains in it. The man turns out to be the murder. Meanwhile the 2 teenagers from the beginning met a girl in the game who claims she isn't real. Those teenagers get followed by weird figured in real life as well. There's also a scene towards the end with a man who finds a chamber with corpses but suddenly someone makes the chamber vacuum. The 2 teenagers find out in the last chapter that the girl they met ingame is actually real and they meet up with her.

So this is all I remember. It was a weird book, and hard to read (although for me it was, I was 12 years old or so) Thanks for any help!

P.S. Sorry for my spelling mistakes, but English isn't my mother tongue.
