There is a book that I would like to read again, but I can not think of the title or the author. I barely remember what it was about. The key points were there were two beach houses owned by the same family. They only used one of them because something evil lurked in the other one. Whatever the evil was (can't remember) could take shape by using sand. The housekeeper for the family tried to keep the family safe from the evil, but in the end I think it got her. A young girl within the family, who was close to the housekeeper, ate the housekeeper's eyeballs so that she could "see" and help keep the family safe.
