The Last Legionnaire - sci-fi series [ Edited ]

I read this sci-fi series over 20 years ago. I think it had five in the series. I think the main character was something like keith randell or keith randor or keel??? He was from a planet of warriors (the legionnaires i think) that would go and fight for other planets. But they were all killed, cept him. Everyone was called back to the planet and then killed by some radiation. He got radiation poisioning but had all his bones replaced for super strong ones but some other group. He also has this metal owl which helps on his quest to find who did it and why.

This is all i can remember - i am from NZ and was read there years ago - but i think the author was from overseas. If i remember anything else - i will post it.

   Keill Randor was the lead figure in the series by Douglas Hill (a canadian) and the last Legionary from the planet Moros. His companion in the books was Glr, a telepathic alien. I read the heck out of these books as a kid. There were 5 books in the series and (alas!) there will be no more, as the author passed away in 2007.

Thank you so much. I actually found the author after searching around a bit. He did have two other series which i really enjoyed also - Finn Ferrel - the huntsman? and warriors of the wasteland. etc. So i will try and get them at the library but might have to just buy them
