When I was little, I finched one of my mom's books from her shelf. It was a horror/thriller novel, and I don't remember much except that I loved it and that it was about a group of people who had to use an elevator-type teleportation device to escape/defeat a villain. The device was flawed, though, and some of the people got scrambled in their teleportation attempts. Body parts would show up in wrong places on their bodies, etc. One of the men died when a part from someone else "scrambled" into his head...
Can anyone help me out?
