I had two books that I couldn't remember the name of but found one of them so I am still drawing a blank on book two, so let me give you a discription of what I recall of the plot and with any amount of luck someone can halp me figure it out.
The book featured a family of traveling magicians, one of thier big tricks was a sphinx involving mirrors, the sphinx scene took place near the end of the book as I recall.The book had some illustrations, I would hedge a guess that it was written in the late 70's.
I unfortunately cannot recall anything else at this moment but if something else pops into mind I'll post it here, unless someone ID's the book first.
