looking for a fiction paperback printed in the 70s/80s,Nazi Infiltration of England

When I was a teenager, I read a paperback printed possibly in the 70s/80s about a Nazi pilot who was sent to England undercover to do some infiltratation work. I can remember the cover - it was grey with a stylized Nazi symbol with the eagle.

I can't remember the author or character names, but he arrives to England by plane, jumps out...I remember a bicycle waiting for him, maybe? He meets an Englishwoman & falls in love & I think he dies in the end because he chages his mind about everything, basically...

I don't know if any of that is helpful but it has been two decades since I last laid eyes on it.

The plot is a bit garbled but I suspect this is the book you mean.
