Maybe it is time to get this discussion going again. I only made it as far as the first section before I got distracted to others things, but this is a book worth reading and the film clips were intriguing. I didn't get very far so I didn't realize that this was also a story about young love and all that lead up to the first section. This is a good night to curl up with a good book in front of a nice warm fire.

Personally, I can't wait for the movie. The writing is so lush and pulsating, I'm interested to see (literally!) what they can do with it.

I read the book about a year ago and I'm a little weary of the movie. Sometimes you just can't make the transition from book to movie. It just doesn't hold the same intensity and passion that the book conveys.

Hi Oz,

I think that's a matter of taste. Personally, I prefer to have read the book first. Over the years, my "movies that were better than the book" list is pretty short.

That said, I can absolutely enjoy a movie if I haven't read the book.

What's your experience with this?
