About Maggie O'Farrell: Maggie O'Farrell was born in Northern Ireland and grew up in Wales and Scotland. She has worked as a waitress, cycle courier, chambermaid, teacher, administrator, and journalist, and most recently as the Deputy Literary Editor of the Independent on Sunday (London). She is the author of four novels: After You'd Gone, My Lover's Lover, The Distance Between Us, and The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox. All have been on the Sunday Times (London) bestseller list in the UK. She has won a Betty Trask Award and the Somerset Maugham Award and her work has been translated into twenty-one languages. O'Farrell has lived her adult life in London, Hong Kong, and Italy and has taught in the creative writing programs at University of Warwick and Goldsmiths, University of London. She currently lives in Edinburgh with her husband and son.
