A Note about Our Discussion [ Edited ]

Many of those of us coming to this conversation are reading Middlesex for the first time; we've crafted some discussion questions especially suited to those readers only partway through the book so far. If you'd like to make sure that you're not going to have the later plot developments revealed to you prematurely, take note of the following divisions:

• Topics marked Early Chapters are suitable for readers who have completed the first part of the novel, through the end of Book Two.
• Topics marked Middle Chapters are suitable for readers who have read more deeply into the novel, through the end of Book Three.
• In a short while, we'll post some discussion topics about the Book as a Whole, suitable for readers who have read the entirety of Middlesex
