Since 1997, you’ve been coming to BarnesandNoble.com to discuss everything from Stephen King to writing to Harry Potter. You’ve made our site more than a place to discover your next book: you’ve made it a community. But like all things internet, BN.com is growing and changing. We've said goodbye to our community message boards—but that doesn’t mean we won’t still be a place for adventurous readers to connect and discover.

Now, you can explore the most exciting new titles (and remember the classics) at the Barnes & Noble Book Blog. Check out conversations with authors like Jeff VanderMeer and Gary Shteyngart at the B&N Review, and browse write-ups of the best in literary fiction. Come to our Facebook page to weigh in on what it means to be a book nerd. Browse digital deals on the NOOK blog, tweet about books with us,or self-publish your latest novella with NOOK Press. And for those of you looking for support for your NOOK, the NOOK Support Forums will still be here.

We will continue to provide you with books that make you turn pages well past midnight, discover new worlds, and reunite with old friends. And we hope that you’ll continue to tell us how you’re doing, what you’re reading, and what books mean to you.

New Text Editor for IE 6.0 and 7.0 Users!

I'm letting my book clubs know about the new text editor just installed on the boards.  This is copied from Jessica's post in "Announcements."

Enjoy these new tools if you have them!

Jessica's Post:

We've installed a new Text Editing tool on the boards!

Now, when composing a message, you have an easy way to alter your text before you post it.

(By the way, the technical name for this tool is "WYSIWYG" (sounds like "wizzywig"). It's an acronym that stands for "What You See Is What You Get.")

Here are the features of the Book Clubs text editor.

  • You can cut, copy, and paste text.
  • You can make text bold, italicized, underlined, or strike a line through it.
  • There's a selection of much-used smileys.
  • You can insert a horizontal line.
  • You can align the text to the left, right, or center -- as well as indent it.
  • You can create numbered lists or bulleted lists.
  • There is a spell-checking option.
Unfortunately, at this time the text editing tool only appears in Internet Explorer (IE) 6 or 7. If you have an earlier version of IE, or if you use Mozilla Firefox for your browser, you won't have the text editing option, and the message box will remain unchanged.

Have fun with the new WYSIWYG, and if you have any questions, post them in the Help board or send us a Private Message.

Thanks!
