A is for April and for Anne George

We're splitting our featured books this much to reach more of you, since Down River fell kind of flat with this group.

Sticking with the Southern theme, starting Monday we'll be talking about Anne George's Southern Sisters, starting with the first book in the series -- Murder on a Girl's Night Out.

I'm reading this book right now (started it, had to put it aside to get work done, now I'm back) and it's a lot of fun.

Join us for this discussion starting Monday!

Re: A is for April and for Anne George

Unfortunately our library only has it on cassette, which takes a long time to listen to, and there isn't time to get it on ILL or mail order (no local bookstores have it), so I'm not sure whether I'll be able to read it in time for the discussion.

I did get the cassette and started it on the drive home. Interesting beginning to the book!

Re: A is for April and for Anne George

I was lucky enough to find it at the local library.  It is a paperback and its really old!  I don't mind paperbacks but since its so old I am afraid it will break! :smileyvery-happy:

Anyway its a short book so I should have it read before the discussion starts.

Re: A is for April and for Anne George

Our local second hand bookstore wasn't open when I was calling around yesterday; turns out that they DO have a copy, so I'll be picking it up when I go to town tomorrow.

Sorry I didn't give you more warning on this one.  It was a last minute addition when it didn't look like anyone was really getting into Down River.

Is this the one where Sister buys the country/western bar? I think it was called the Boot Scoot & Boogie?

Yes, that's the one.  I love the nicknames for the sisters: Sister and Mouse.
